To succeed in Teamfight Tactics, the auto battler from Riot Games, there are different strategies. In this article, we would like to introduce you to the Saver and the Hyperroller in more detail.
Why are we introducing these two strategies? In Teamfight Tactics, much is decided by chance, such as the number and rarity of the items or the champions.
But some decisions can be made by yourself. And this particularly includes how to handle the economic situation. In this context, these two strategies have emerged.

Strategy 1: Hyperrolling – Invest Gold and Level Up Units
How does this strategy work? The Hyperroller is about investing a lot of gold at a certain point to upgrade 1-Gold-units as quickly as possible.
To do this, you wait until you have defeated the Krugs, the NPC opponents at the end of Stage 2. Before that, you do not roll out any new champions and do not level up. You use what you are given.
After the Krugs, actively look for champions you can get to level 3. Your level is low enough to regularly receive 1-Gold-units.
Also, pay attention to the players around you and possibly choose the champions that others have not yet bought. This increases the chances of finding the units since a common pool of champions is used.
How does the strategy pay off? By leveling up 1-Gold-champions early, you should now be able to win the upcoming rounds and build a winning streak.
This winning streak compensates you for the gold you will miss in interest. After leveling up one or two champions, you should start saving again to prepare for the late game.
What is the disadvantage of the strategy? Generally, you will get through the early and mid game well with this strategy. However, if you do not get a champion to level 3, a comeback is almost impossible.
Additionally, you may lack synergies for the late game. The newly accumulated gold must then be invested wisely.
Strategy 2: Saver – Save Gold and Focus on T4 Champions
How does this strategy work? If you prefer to be the Saver, you do exactly what the name suggests. You collect gold over many rounds to spend it later.
Early in the game, you should decide which direction your team composition will go. Before facing the Krugs at the end of Stage 2, you should level up once. Three rounds later, depending on how the game unfolds, you should already have reached 50 gold.
Your goal should now be level six, so you encounter 4-Gold champions more often. You should collect these and upgrade them to level 2.
How does the strategy pay off? With this strategy, you should be one of the first players to acquire a 4-Gold champion at level 2. If this champion fits into your team combo or is strong on its own like Gnar or Aurelion Sol, then you have a significant advantage over other players.
With this strategy, you should do well in the mid and late game, as your units are usually rarer and stronger on their own than those of other players.
What is the disadvantage of the strategy? By saving gold, you may take a lot of damage in the early game. TFT is ruthless in that regard, and a comeback under 50% health is usually difficult.
You might even get eliminated before you complete your combo. Therefore, good units in the mid game are very important.
The Right Strategy at the Right Time
Which strategy is better? Both strategies have their advantages and disadvantages. Generally, you should decide in which direction to go after the first rounds.
The start is crucial. If you find 1-Gold champions right at the start that you can upgrade to level 2 and simultaneously have good items, then hyperrolling is worthwhile.
If the right champions are not present in the first rounds, you might prefer to save your gold and hope for the future.
