In Teamfight Tactics, the LoL Auto Chess, the new patch 9.15 has made some champs combined with items way too strong. Some of this was indeed a bug – but other things were actually meant to be strong, just not that strong. A hotfix yesterday evening made Teamfight Tactics playable again.
This was the community’s reaction to the patch yesterday: The cries in the Teamfight Tactics community were loud last night.
The game was said to be “officially broken,” on reddit. The thread showed a picture of a nasty Pyke with double “Frozen Heart” equipped. He could freeze all opponents completely.
Players complained: You could only win if you used the new exploits, otherwise you had no chance, it was said. Some said they wouldn’t play Teamfight Tactics in ranked until the issues were resolved. Especially the Korean ELO was completely crazy.
The reason for the troubles was a mix of bold balance changes from Riot in the new patch and bugs that made heroes way too strong.
Akali always crits
This was the problem with Akali: The ninja assassin Akali was supposed to be significantly weaker with the patch, her ability’s damage was reduced.
But it was exactly the opposite. Akali became a super killer. Because her spells now always dealt critical damage. Riot Games fixed this with a hotfix. Now Akali only crits at 25% as intended.
Cho’Gath: Monster sees, monster eats
This was the problem with Cho’Gath: The old void monster became significantly stronger and more brutal with the patch. On the one hand, the void combo now deals “true damage,” on the other hand, Cho’Gath specifically became significantly stronger.
That was planned.
The monster could now deal over 1000 damage to multiple opponents with an AE and full AP items.
But that was too extreme even for Riot Games.
Riot revoked the damage buff for Cho’Gath but said: It’s planned that he is that brutal. He is supposed to hit for 900, not for 1125 anymore.
Pirate with a cold heart
This was the problem with Pyke: The Pirate Pyke suddenly stacked the item “Frozen Heart,” because whenever Pyke jumped over enemies, he nearly completely froze them.
That was only a half-bug:
- Frozen Heart stacked too strongly, which has been corrected.
- However, the “jumping over” enemies should still have this effect. Pyke with Frozen Heart remains a nasty combo, but is not as strong anymore.
This was the problem with Braum: The hero is often equipped with the Thornmail in Teamfight Tactics. That has been the case for a while.
However, the Thornmail dealt “true damage” with the new patch, which was reverted to “magic damage” by hotfix.
Hotfix makes Teamfight Tactics “whole” again in the evening
Here’s what it involves: With the patch in Teamfight Tactics, some already strong heroes became even stronger yesterday; the hotfix reversed that.
But Cho’Gath, Braum with Thornmail, or Pyke with Frozen Heart should be dangerous and deadly, and they still are after the hotfix. Only Akali has really lost out.
