The new LoL Auto Chess Teamfight Tactics is very popular and especially good combos of champions and items have quickly emerged. We will reveal to you what the best combos of champions and items are.
About the article: The overview of the best champions and their item combinations is intended to serve as a small guide. If you are offered one of these strong champions, it can be worthwhile to build the entire team, especially the items, around this key champion.
This overview is based on the previous experiences we made in Teamfight Tactics and an article from Invenglobal.
Currently, the game is still in beta, and there will surely be some adjustments soon.
A word about the items: If you have the choice at the carousel and there is no attractive hero, you should ask to receive a Recurve Bow or Needlessly Large Rod.
The 4 best champions in Teamfight Tactics
Aurelion Sol
Since the launch of Teamfight Tactics, Aurelion Sol has been one of the strongest champions. He has been nerfed since, but he is still at the top.
Synergies with Aurelion Sol: As a Dragon and Sorcerer, it makes sense to build his team with more champions of this origin. With 6 Sorcerers, Aurelion Sol quickly destroys all enemy units. Morgana is particularly useful as she is also one of the strongest heroes in Teamfight Tactics.
To get the Dragon bonus, you only need one more champion, Shyvana.
In addition to Dragon and Sorcerer, Wild is also a suitable origin. Four of them increase the attack speed of all your champions and thus ensure faster mana generation. Here, Ahri stands out particularly as she is both Wild and Sorcerer.
Thanks to Lulu and Veigar, you already have two Sorcerers from the origin Yordle. You can add a third to give them an evasion chance.
Useful items for Aurelion Sol: Aurelion Sol benefits greatly from magic damage and attack speed. Useful items are:
- Rabadon’s Deathcap (Needlessly Large Rod and Needlessly Large Rod)
- Rapid Firecannon (Recurve Bow and Recurve Bow)
- Statikk Shiv (Tear of the Goddess and Recurve Bow)
- Guinsoo’s Rageblade (Needlessly Large Rod and Recurve Bow)
Draven
Draven already appeared as the strongest champion in our beginner’s guide and still holds this position after the release of Teamfight Tactics. He has been nerfed multiple times, but a 2- or even 3-star Draven can still decide a game alone with the right items.
Synergies with Draven: Laying in the hand are his origin Imperial and the class Blademaster. However, one should not focus too much on these two.
A second Imperial can be quickly found with Darius. That gives Draven 50% of the damage bonus. Three Blademasters are more difficult to get. Aatrox and Fiora are easy to obtain, but Fiora is one of the weakest units.
Alternatively, one can create a Blade of the Ruined King with Spatula + Recurve Bow, which grants another character the class Blademaster.
Useful synergies for Draven are mainly four champions with the origin Wild and six Nobles.
Useful items for Draven: As an AD carry, Draven loves items with direct damage, attack speed, and lifesteal. These include:
- Guinsoo’s Rageblade (Needlessly Large Rod and Recurve Bow)
- Infinity Edge (B.F. Sword and B.F. Sword)
- Bloodthirster (Negatron Cloak and B.F. Sword)
- Rapid Firecannon (Recurve Bow and Recurve Bow)
Morgana
Morgana is also one of the stronger champions and behaves very similarly to Aurelion Sol.
Synergies with Morgana: Morgana loves the bonus from six Sorcerers and therefore fits perfectly into a team with Aurelion Sol. Here, four champions of the origin Wild can again be added as a supplement.
Additionally, a Demon can be used to steal mana from the opponent. However, the bonus from four or six Demons can be ignored.
Otherwise, here again the Yordle bonus is a useful addition to Veigar and Lulu.
Useful items for Morgana: Morgana benefits even more from AP items than Aurelion Sol. Rabadon’s Deathcap is a must here.
Garen
Garen is not objectively the strongest champion in the game, but he harmonizes extremely well with one item. And that is why he belongs in the list of the best combos.
Synergies with Garen: Garen is a Noble and benefits particularly from the bonus for six Nobles. He is also a Knight, which is a relatively weak origin.
He also loves the bonus from Wild, allowing him to attack faster and charge mana. His Spin-to-Win is crucial for an item.
Useful items for Garen: The item Morellonomicon consists of a Needlessly Large Rod and a Giant’s Belt. Its effect ensures that spells take 5% of the opponent’s maximum health.
Garen’s Spin-to-Win is a spell that hits opponents multiple times and also deals area damage. In Teamfight Tactics, the effects of all items stack, so you can directly stack multiple Morellonomicons on Garen.
Also helpful are items that make Garen more defensive, such as:
- Frozen Heart (Tear of the Goddess and B.F. Sword)
- Thornmail (Chain Vest and Chain Vest)
- Warmog’s Armor (Giant’s Belt and Giant’s Belt)
Items you should better avoid
In conclusion, we want to give you a brief overview of the items you should not create.
Guardian Angel: In League of Legends itself, the GA can be quite useful and decide a battle. However, in TFT, the battles usually go so fast that the champion with Guardian Angel gets up again only when the battle has already been decided.
Guardian Angel is made from the B.F. Sword and the Giant’s Belt.
Redemption: Redemption heals allied champions in the surrounding areas for 1,000 health points. However, the champions often stand in a way that does not allow them to profit from it. They are often positioned in such a way that a tank receives the damage and then the surroundings are healed with full health points.
Redemption is made from the Tear of Goddess and the Giant’s Belt.
Knight’s Vow: With Garen, we already touched on the topic that Knights are a rather weak origin. Accordingly, an item that makes the bearer a Knight is somewhat weaker. Also, much better items can be crafted from Spatula, such as the Force of Nature – with which you can use a champ as normally.
Knight’s Vow is made from Spatula and Chain Vest.
What does a best combo look like in practice? In this article we show how one of the top players in Teamfight Tactics builds his “best combo”.
