The new Hearthstone champion Dog has found an unusual combo in Teamfight Tactics, the LoL Auto Chess, that is making waves. Dog relies on 6 Sorcerers and the currently nasty combination of the items Ionic Spark and Morello, which has been investigated by Riot Games and nerfed in the latest patch. We take a look at the patch notes in English.
Who is Dog? David “Dog” Caero (USA) is currently one of the best Hearthstone players in the world. He won Blizzard’s big Master tournament and is considered a strategist who can “crack” games. He finds the current best setup to achieve maximum success.
Although not everything went right at the Hearthstone tournament in Vegas, he is an excellent player and, like many Hearthstone streamers, has now turned to Teamfight Tactics.
The 9 heroes that Yasuo’s combo relies on in Teamfight Tactics
What combo does he play? The key to Dog’s combo in Teamfight Tactics is the unusual hero “Yasuo,” who receives 3 items.
Yasuo starts as “Exile” for the battle with a shield that covers 100% of his max HP when he is not adjacent to any other unit. The nasty part: The shield scales with AP and becomes enormous.
Therefore, AP items go on Yasuo.
Yasuo is supported by 6 Sorcerers:
- Ahri – who can hit multiple opponents if positioned well
- Kassadin – who acts as a tank with his shield
- Veigar – a damage Yordle
- Lulu – as the supporter who can throw enemies into the air nicely
- Morgana – provides damage and stuns when she has space
- Aurelion Sol – the dragon deals damage in the background
With Aurelion Sol and Morgana, 2 heroes are present who rank at the top of any tier list for Teamfight Tactics.
The build is rounded out by:
- Cho’Gath, a chunky tank
- And Kennen, the ninja – feared as a rusher
What makes the build so successful? The build works by having Cho’Gath and Kassadin absorb the initial damage from the opponent while the Sorcerers gather their mana in the background.
After that, the opponent is overwhelmed. The nasty part of the tactic is that the opponent then takes a lot of damage because their own champions are clustered together.
Is there an alternative setup? Yes, there are several variants as long as the 6 Sorcerers and Yasuo are in play.
A mirror matchup against AP Yasuo, Dog can win by employing the 5-star Noble Kayle. She puts out a strong shield (via twitch.tv).
This item combo provides the polish and is already being investigated by Riot
What is the item setup? Dog relies on a tactic that is currently in vogue. One combines the items “Ionic Spark” and “Morello” together.
Both deal damage to the opponent when they cast. In combination, it is likely too powerful and causes enormous damage. Riot Games is currently investigating this.
This item combo is currently extremely strong.
Patch Notes Teamfight Tactics: Already nerfed
Update 30.6. 17:35: Indeed, the combo in Teamfight Tactics has already been nerfed after Dog went on a rampage with it. Riot Games found it simply too strong. According to Riot, it required little effort and could hardly be stopped:
- Yasuo’s shield no longer scales with Spell Power.
- Morellonomicon can no longer be triggered by Ionic Spark, Statik Shiv, and Titanic Hydra
- and Morellonomicon only does half the damage now
Dog’s combo therefore resulted in 2 major nerfs for Teamfight Tactics for Morellonomicon and Yasuo.
