With a trick, you can further refine the bindings and, for example, switch between specific weapon types using the mouse wheel.
Change Destiny 2 Keybindings
For a game to feel “right” while playing, you should be comfortable with the controls. For this purpose, video games like Destiny 2 offer users the ability to customize the default settings for running, shooting, or interactions.
However, some players find these options too superficial. They want more influence over the keys and their functions. This can be accomplished by making changes in the cvars file.
This allows you to assign two keys to the same function or assign new functions to the mouse wheel. Reddit user RealoFoxtrot published a guide explaining the process.
He created this guide so that he only switches between kinetic and energy weapons while scrolling the mouse wheel. He assigns a different key to the power weapons.
You can usually find the “cvars.xml” file under the path: C:UsersYOURUSERNAME%appdata%roamingbungiedestinyPCprefs – open it, for example, with Notepad (if you can’t find the Appdata folder, you need to make hidden files and folders visible in Windows).
Now you can either experiment yourself or use RealoFoxtrot’s bindings. He states that these changes won’t get you banned. After all, they are not new files being sneaked into the game, but keybindings.
