The company Wyrmwood offers various wooden gaming products. On August 11, they launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new gaming table that boasts great flexibility and is perfect for fans of board games of all kinds. Accordingly, their crowdfunding campaign is going very well.
What kind of table is it? The Wyrmwood Modular Gaming Table looks like an ordinary dining table for 4 to 8 people in the “tabletop” version. But it has much more to offer.
Because the tabletop consists of different boards. When you remove these, it offers a huge, deep surface for board games. It also comes with many accessories, including:
- Holders for drinks or bowls for snacks
- Extra boards for dice and chips
- A storage and charging station for smartphones
- Card holders
- A large board for the game master or a laptop
These holders can be attached both inside and outside the table. Additionally, the boards for covering can be inserted arbitrarily, which creates additional storage space or can be used to quickly have dinner together in the middle of a game session without having to dismantle the game board.
There is also a wide selection in the style of the table (kitchen or coffee table), size, and material. This is why the table is currently attracting a lot of attention on Kickstarter.
How is it going on Kickstarter? Initially, the creators of the table wanted to raise only €850,000 with their campaign. There were also “stretch goals” up to 3 million euros.
However, the campaign significantly exceeded the set goals. As of today, October 8 at 2:00 PM, nearly €7.1 million has been donated.
This table is already one of the most successful Kickstarter projects related to gaming. You can also perfectly use it for board games based on well-known computer games like Fortnite Monopoly without money or the new Small World of Warcraft.
A flexible and affordable gaming table
How much does the table cost? The cheapest version of the table for adults costs around $400 and is suitable for 4 people. However, it only includes the table, the inner lining, and the “top” layer.
In the configurator, you can completely customize your favorite table according to your preferences – for up to 10 people, if you have a large tabletop group. The largest and most expensive table with the best materials and special fabrics costs just over $8,000.
Particularly easy to assemble: In addition to the many options, the creators of the table also advertise that it should be particularly easy and quick to assemble.
Wyrmwood is not unknown on Kickstarter
For Wyrmwood, this is already the 14th campaign on Kickstarter. Previous campaigns included handcrafted dice, magnetic board game tiles, and a “Game Master Screen” that were successful.
This current campaign was particularly important for the company. As reported by Kotaku, they were in a crisis due to Covid-19 and had to lay off employees.
Thanks to the successful project, all 70 employees have been brought back on board. Additionally, they partnered with another wood manufacturer to work even more effectively.
