The addon for Star Wars: The Old Republic, abbreviated SWTOR, is not far away, and many players are wondering what will happen to the various badges they have accumulated over the months.
The developers at BioWare are cleaning up: All your basic, classic, planetary, elite, and ultimate awards will be converted into “basic awards”! The exact conversion rate for the individual badges is not yet known, but this will allow you to exceed the current limit of 1000 badges – at least temporarily. After this conversion, which will happen with Patch 3.0, the badge types “planetary” and “classic” will be completely removed from the game.

PvP players need not worry at all; their badges will remain intact and will be transferred without losses.
Why the developers made this decision should be obvious: with a new expansion, they want to ensure that all players start “from scratch” and do not stock up on the corresponding badges beforehand to immediately own the best possible equipment. Also, reducing the types of badges is likely a long-term helpful measure to prevent new players from being overwhelmed by a multitude of currencies.
