In the survival MMO Rust there will be a so-called “force wipe” on January 7, 2021. This resets progress on all maps and all servers. Many players will lose their bases, but for newcomers, this is a strong opportunity to start.
When is the “force wipe”? On Thursday, January 7, 2021, the servers of the survival MMO Rust will be reset. This forced deletion affects both official and private servers. The wipe will happen at 8:00 PM German time (via Twitter).
What happens? With the wipe, all blueprints and maps will be reset. Everything that was there will be deleted. Every player must start over.
The reason for the wipe is the monthly update of Rust, which will be deployed at the same time. To ensure all new features and changes work properly, everything will be reset. Patch notes for the update are not available yet.
On just-wiped.net you can find an overview of which servers had a wipe last.
Kickstart after the “force wipe” in Rust
What should I pay attention to? The wipe is the ideal opportunity to start with Rust. Since every player starts naked after the wipe, you won’t risk getting shot by a veteran and their powerful weapons right after spawn.
Instead, everyone has roughly equal conditions. Those with more experience can benefit from this. Generally, you have more time to find your way around before someone corners you. Your first steps should look something like this:
- open the map and find a building spot – snowy areas are quite suitable for beginners
- collect cloth on the way to craft a sleeping bag
- find a good hiding spot and gather wood and stones for your first construction projects
- craft an axe and a pickaxe as well as weapons (bow and spear)
- build your first house including a toolbox to prevent your base from decaying
