A building game on Steam makes you the governor of a colony on the edge of the Roman Empire. As such, your task is to appease the gods and defend the city against barbarian invaders and mythical beasts.
What game is it about? The game is called Roman Triumph: Survival City Builder. As the name implies, it is a city-building game with survival elements.
On September 16, 2025, Roman Triumph: Survival City Builder left Early Access on Steam. Currently, you can get the game there at a discount – until September 29, it costs €17.49 instead of €24.99.
Here you can see a trailer for the game:
Survival building in ancient Rome
What is the game about? Your task is to establish a new Roman colony. You start by building your villa and traditionally raise buildings, including residential houses, production facilities, and magnificent structures like a Colosseum.
However, peacefully building is not what this is about. Your colony will regularly be attacked by barbarians from the north. Occasionally, you will also encounter mythical creatures in battles, such as the multi-headed Hydra. For protection, you construct walls and towers as well as barracks where you recruit troops.
In addition, you should also pay homage to the gods. If you fail to do this, you will face disasters such as plagues or severe thunderstorms. If the gods favor you, however, you will be rewarded with various bonuses.
With the launch of version 1.0, several new features have been introduced to the game, including:
- A new desert area designed specifically for veterans with its harsh environment
- A new mythical threat to your settlement in the form of the bull-headed Minotaur
- Spike traps that serve as a cost-effective means to fend off enemies
Is there a demo for the game? Currently, there is no demo of Roman Triumph: Survival City Builder. If you realize within the first two hours of gameplay that the game is not for you, you can make use of the return policy on Steam.
Another building game that was released on Steam in September is called Fata Deum. It is reminiscent of older god simulation games, such as Black & White. MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus was able to play it before release and shares his impressions: A new building game on Steam makes me a god and gives me what no game has managed in 20 years
