In the search for the best weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale, few arguments pass the legendary SCAR. It shoots like a laser and deals brutal damage. Legendary rocket launchers and golden sniper rifles also count among the best weapons in the game.
When it comes to the question of the worst weapon in the game, various aspects should be considered:
- How versatile is the weapon? Can it shine in many situations?
- How much damage does the weapon deal in a certain time?
- Is the weapon a valid option both early in the game and in the endgame?
- How does the rarity of a weapon affect its usefulness?

The Crossbow – the sniper’s last choice?
In the range of long-range weapons, there are now four archetypes of weapon types. From the highly popular bolt-action sniper rifles to the semi-automatic variant, hunting rifles, and the crossbow.
The crossbow has the significant advantage that it does not require ammunition. You can use it infinitely and only need to reload after five arrows. The weapon is also silent – the shooter is hard to locate.
Unfortunately, the crossbow behaves entirely differently than all other long-range weapons. The arrow drops faster than the projectiles of sniper rifles, so you need to aim differently with it.
As long-range weapons are generally not well suited when the opponent is moving, the greater height loss of the projectiles becomes more noticeable. The crossbow also cannot eliminate an opponent with a critical hit if they have a full shield. Therefore, the crossbow is candidate number 1 for the worst weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale!
The Revolver – Well aimed and nothing gained?
The revolver divides the player base. Some hit nothing with it (myself included), while others can shine particularly at the beginning of a match. Because a critical hit with a revolver can at least easily eliminate opponents without a shield.
The revolver also benefits greatly from the newly added initial accuracy. If you stand still, the projectile will definitely hit where you aim. After the first few minutes, however, the revolver is considered useless, as players then walk around with full shields. Is it a contender for the worst weapon in the game?
The Pistol – Pew Pew and that’s it?
The pistol is likely to be the first weapon you encounter in many cases. While you can deal decent damage at close range at the beginning of a match, the pistol is almost never used later in the match.
It also competes in its preferred range with shotguns, which often turn out to be the better choice. Most players will therefore only walk around with a pistol for a few seconds, quickly replacing it with better loot.
The Minigun – Destroys fortifications, right?
The Minigun has come with the promise of quickly leveling enemy fortifications. While it was still relatively commonly used in the beginning, players quickly returned to their preferred tools – grenades and rocket launchers.
On paper, the minigun is an excellent weapon:
- It does not need to be reloaded
- It deals significant damage to enemy structures
Unfortunately, the weapon first needs to heat up before use, and the damage against moving targets is poor. You rarely hit players with this weapon. Anyone wanting to destroy an enemy fortification with it reveals their position – and is helplessly exposed to enemies during that time.
