In Subnautica 2, you will again find yourself in a vast underwater world. For many, the question arises as to what will happen with the map. How will the survivors navigate? Will there be a map to orient themselves? According to the developer, there is already some information on this.
Will there be a map? A classic map, which one can access and use for orientation, is not planned in that form according to the developers (Source: Reddit). The underwater world will be gigantic, and navigating within it will be challenging, but the developers have a logical reason for opting out of it.
The game world will be much more vertical compared to other competitors in the genre. Due to the different depths of the ocean, it is correspondingly more difficult to clearly represent all these areas on your map in 2D.
Equally important to the developers is to encourage your urge to explore by striving to discover the unknown and venturing into areas that are hidden. If you had a map, you would already know what to expect in certain areas.

How do I use the interactive map? There are various providers of interactive maps that you can access on the internet. One of the candidates is: mapgenie.io. On the site, you will find a large overview of the entire map. Additionally, you can set various filters on the site to find locations or important items like black boxes. So if you are generally struggling with disorientation, you should rely on such a map.
How should I find my way without a map? Basically, you have two options. Either you do it like in real life and try to build your own map in your head or in a document. In doing so, you set markers and try to orient yourself on where your important POIs are located.
Or you wait for a mod to be released on Nexus Mods that will map your map. This way, you will not be completely lost if you tend to get lost. After all, there is already some information about mods for Subnautica, as there will probably be some, but not officially from the developers.
