The MMORPG Old School Runescape (Steam) offers extremely difficult challenges, which only depend on luck: The probably most passionate player of the MMORPG has now had the luck of having breakfast with a big spoon one afternoon.
Why is there often something going on in the MMORPG?
- Old School Runescape is the “classic version” of the MMORPG Runescape (2001) and is approximately at the level of 2007.
- The game is immensely popular, much more popular than the “modern Runescape”: On Twitch, it has an average of 6,850 viewers – “Retail-Runescape” has only 540 viewers. Right now, on July 26, just before 5:00 PM, about 100,000 players are playing on the servers of the retro-retro MMORPG.
- In addition, there are many tasks for “completionists” in Old School Runescape that have not yet been solved: Lists that require finding all items from every rare boss in the game, claiming every conceivable reward.
The hardest game aims to complete the MMORPG
A player has now achieved this: The player Bazilijus is probably working the hardest to “complete” Old School Runescape. His goal is to fill a specific task log completely, to achieve everything in the game that can be achieved.
We have already reported about him on MeinMMO because he managed to collect all items from bosses in the game. He took 22,000 hours with his character to do that.
Now he has managed to find 3 of the rarest items in the game in one afternoon: 3rd Age equipment.
As the site Gamesradar points out, the player had collected 600 “Reward Caskets,” which he then redeemed one afternoon. To collect the 600 caskets, he had to invest about 50 hours. Redeeming the rewards took a long afternoon.
At around 7:14 PM, on July 22, he found the 3rd item:
In total, there are 13 of these armor pieces in Old School Runescape: The chance of finding a special piece of equipment is, according to the wiki, 1 in 211,225. The chance that when opening a casket one of the items comes out is 1:16,250.
Chance of success becomes even smaller with each item he finds
How much luck did he have? Extremely much luck. Because the problem is also that the player not only has to find the extremely rare 3rd Age items, he must find exactly the 3rd Age items that are still missing for him. With each item he has, it becomes statistically harder for him to find an item he does not yet own. And even before the legendary afternoon, he owned 2 of the 13 items.
As the author of Gamesradar calculates, his chances – with all bonuses – were therefore:
- For the 1st item 1:3840
- For the 2nd item 1:4225
- For the 3rd item: 1:4694
The man therefore had incredible luck, three times in a row.
On his Twitter feed, he is being celebrated frenetically for this achievement, which only other MMORPG players can truly appreciate.
