In a new role-playing game on Steam, you take on the role of Robin Hood and build a village in the forests of Sherwood.
What kind of game is this? Robin Hood – Sherwood Builder (PC) is an upcoming “action-adventure role-playing game” that focuses on base-building elements and lets you fight against the notorious Sheriff of Nottingham in the role of the legendary hero Robin Hood.
The title is being developed by the Polish studio MeanAstronauts, which aims for a release on February 29, 2024, on Steam.
Role-playing game with crafting elements
What sets the gameplay of the game apart? In the game, you take on the role of the titular hero and experience his story. You build a community of rebels and refugees and help them survive in the forests of Sherwood.
To tell the story as immersively as possible, the title relies on role-playing mechanics and accordingly gives you various quests as well as a skill tree with special attacks.
However, Robin Hood’s skills in combat are not enough to survive in the forests of Sherwood. You must also practice crafting and create items and weapons, build houses and production facilities for your village, and hunt food for yourself and your supporters.

To let you explore the forests and craft, hunt, and build houses to a reasonable extent, Robin Hood – Sherwood Builder offers an open world that depicts the area around Nottingham, including villages, ruins, and underground tunnels.
Your task will not only be to hunt for your village and wield a weapon alone. You must also train the members of your community to be craftsmen, hunters, or guardians.
What does the trailer show? The trailer for Robin Hood – Sherwood Builder gives some impressions of what to expect in the role-playing game. In addition to some melee sequences, including beheading opponents, we can take a first look at the building of houses and the skill tree.
Of course, we also see how Robin Hood acts with bow and arrow and takes down both animals and hostile humans.
Throughout the game, you are also supposed to meet legendary figures from the “Robin Hood” stories, including Lady Marian, Little John, Friar Tuck, Allan-a-Dale, and Will Scarlet.
Some of these well-known characters also appear in the co-op game Gangs of Sherwood released in 2023 and can even be played by you there. However, the co-op title was not well received by players and currently stands at only 42% positive user reviews.
