Valheim became a surprise hit on Steam in early 2021 and continues to captivate many players a year later. Soon, Game Pass owners will also be able to try one of the best survival games out there.
When is Valheim coming to Game Pass? As confirmed in a short video during the “Xbox Games Showcase Extended” on June 14, 2022, the popular survival game will be part of Game Pass.
Prior to this, it was on the list of all games scheduled to arrive in Game Pass in 2022/2023.
- Valheim is expected to join the PC Game Pass already this fall, 2022.
- “Early Spring” 2023 should see the game also coming to Xbox consoles.
Starting next year, you can also dive into the Viking world of Valheim on console.

What kind of game is this? Valheim landed as an indie title on Steam, which wasn’t even finished yet. Nevertheless, the game attracted hundreds of thousands of players at its release, peaking at 498,478 active players.
This number has since declined, but Valheim can still impress many players. According to current steamcharts, there were an average of 18,677 players in May 2022, with about 34,000 at peak.
On the Steam store, it currently has an “extremely positive” rating with 95% positive reviews.

What makes Valheim special: Valheim is a survival game that gives you a lot of freedom. You can dedicate yourself to crafting, challenge oversized bosses, or engage in building. Especially, the building aspect brings crazy creations from players repeatedly.
There hasn’t been too much new content yet, with only the “Hearth & Home” update being really significant. Instead, the developers focused more on bug fixes and corrections to polish the game. However, some players took matters into their own hands and added new content through modding.
