When you travel through space in Starfield with your ship, you will discover various planets, space stations, moons, and plenty of meteoroids. However, some players on Reddit report that they are being followed by individual meteoroids – no matter where they fly.
What’s up with the space rock? There are now numerous reports on Reddit from players saying they are being pursued by celestial bodies in Starfield.
The Reddit user “Ultimastar” claims to have been followed by a rock for over 90 hours. He noticed the persistent space rock for the first time after about 10 hours of gameplay.
Ultimastar is now at 100 hours of gameplay and the little rock is still at the player’s side. In a post, he writes that his unusual companion even participated in his character’s in-game wedding.

More players are being followed by rocks and even cities
Is this happening often? Yes, there are many more posts on Reddit from players who have unusual companions. Already in the comments of Ultimastar’s post, a user writes that he has had 5 or 6 such rocks around his spaceship (via Reddit).
Another user has also been followed by a small meteoroid for over 30 hours of gameplay (via Reddit), while another reports of a small forest that follows him (via Reddit).
A player even has the entire city of New Atlantis, the largest city in the game, behind him (via Reddit)
How does the community react? Many users respond humorously to the strange game bug and post jokes under the various Reddit posts. Players refer to the rocky companions as pets and joke that they want to pet the rocks.
- “The family doesn’t want to go camping, I bring camping to them.” – in response to the flying forest
- “Space was empty. Space was vast. Space was cold and joyless. Then the rock came into my life. Never needy. Never complaining. Never judgmental. Just… always there. The rock is my anchor in a heartless universe.” – in response to the flying rock
- “The Crimson Fleet will surely reward you for successfully stealing all of New Atlantis.” – in response to the flying city
- “That’s just an FBI agent watching you in the game.” – in response to the flying rock
Is there a solution for the bug? A user reports on Reddit that he had the bug for days until he deleted his Xbox cache. Afterwards, he was no longer followed by rocks.
The user also states that while deleting the cache helped him, he can’t guarantee that it will work for everyone. Another user tested it afterwards but continued to be followed by rocks.
Whether deleting the cache will help you is currently uncertain.
