Chris Roberts, founder of Cloud Imperium Games, speaks in a video lasting over 1 hour and another half-hour about the MMORPG Star Citizen.
Star Citizen is highly anticipated by many gamers, and it is evident from the alpha versions that the game elements are slowly coming together and Star Citizen is drawing closer to the grand vision of a gigantic, epic space MMO. In a new “10 for the Chairman” video, Chris Roberts spoke about the current developments and also about how the team will pilot capital ships.
Teamwork and Localization
To achieve this, one really needs to work as a team. Everyone on board has an important role to fulfill, without which effective piloting of the ship will not be possible.
Moreover, work is already underway on the localization of the game. However, Roberts cannot yet say whether the localized versions will follow later or whether all language versions will be released simultaneously. It might very well be that only the English version is released at first, allowing backers to play, and then later perhaps the German or French version will be added. As it is digital, this is no longer a problem today; they are no longer tied to a date as it was in “box times.”
For some languages, they will offer a “full translation,” with synchronized cinematics and everything, while for others, only subtitles will be available, Roberts stated. That is purely a matter of time, depending on when everything is ready in the English version.

Chris Roberts explains that he is currently commuting a lot between Austin, Texas, England, and Germany. Because studios belonging to Cloud Imperium are located in these countries, working on different elements of the game. Chris Roberts’ job is to coordinate this work and ensure that these elements all come together this year to ultimately lead to a complete game.
Spaceships Take Off and Land on Planets
Furthermore, there is a preview of Update 2.4.0, which will bring persistence. All your changes will then be saved server-side, as is typical for an MMO. Additionally, Star Citizen will receive the in-game currency United Earth Credits (UEC), with which players can purchase clothing in the game.
The UI and the holotable will be revamped, and there will be technical optimizations. With Update 2.6.0, the developers aim to make spaceships lockable. However, these locks should also be breakable. This year, manual landing of ships on planetary surfaces and moons, as well as the recovery system for stranded players, is planned. Players should also be able to refuel spaceships in space this year.
