And Ryan explains that the goal of the design was to beautify the living spaces. He says:
The PlayStation is located in the living areas of most homes, and we thought it would be nice to offer a design that would really enhance most living spaces. That is what we tried to do. And, you know, we believe we have succeeded.

Many users were particularly surprised by the white design at the reveal, which is completely different from the PlayStation 4. Even with the PS5 controller, fans have wondered how the DualSense controller might look in black.

People increasingly prefer, as they do with their music and videos, digitalization, and we want to acknowledge that.
