A surprise hit in summer 2017 was the slasher Friday the 13th: The Game. Now in autumn, the game is even available in stores for PS4 and Xbox One. Additionally, retro content is expected to create a new hype: a large, free DLC is waiting for fans.
Recently, everyone is talking about PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. This is the hit on Steam and Twitch in 2017. By the end of May, it seemed like “Friday the 13th: The Game” could become the indie hit of the year.
Summer hit 2017 despite bugs and competition
The slasher based on the cult horror franchise “Friday the 13th” started in early summer 2017, shrieking and wildly hitting around. Even the developers did not expect such a rush: 75,000 players melted the servers.

In the game, “survivors” – the counselors – have to somehow escape the killer Jason. The slasher was available at launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and especially celebrated its successes on Twitch as a crazy spectacle that is also fun to watch.
Especially the brutal execution scenes offered shock value.

Friday: the 13th is now available in stores for PS4 and Xbox One
After the initial hype in May and June, things have quieted down around Friday the 13th in recent months. According to the developers, this should change again.
On Friday, October 13, the retail version of Friday: the 13th The Game was released for PS4 and Xbox One.
DLC based on Jason 4 brings new map
Moreover, on Friday the 13th, a large new DLC was released. It is available for free!
The DLC is based on the film “The Final Chapter” – that is Jason Part 4.

It brings:
- a new version of killer Jason, based on the film
- also a new map – Jarvis House. This is the largest map in the game so far
- and a rather confused counselor Mitch Floyd. He is based on Chuck from Part 3 of Jason.
- Rain
- the “pushing,” players can use it to push others out of the way. This should help to shove griefers out of the game. They caused problems for Friday: The 13th before.
