What exactly has Solo Leveling achieved? The anime streaming platform Crunchyroll now belongs to Sony. In a presentation from Sony Music Japan (Page 12), the company reveals that Solo Leveling is the biggest success of the platform so far.
Solo Leveling is ranked number 1 among the most watched anime of all time. No wonder, that it was voted the best anime in 2025 by fans and the jury. This status is valid until the end of March 2025. This is especially significant because Solo Leveling only has 2 seasons.
Although the anime is the biggest success of the streaming service, there are still many question marks about a sequel.
Solo Leveling might still get Season 3
What is the status of Season 3? So far, no official release date has been announced. However, there are several statements from the team, indicating a release in a few years. An Aniplex producer hopes for 2028 as the start date.
The English voice actor of Sung Jin-woo expects it to take “a while” until the release of Season 3. The Head of Theatrical & Distribution at Crunchyroll agrees. There will be a Season 3, but they do not know when.
Are there hopes that Season 3 will be announced? In 2025, there are still 2 important dates when a 3rd season could be announced:
- From July 4 to 7, 2025, the Anime Expo will take place. The production team from Aniplex and streaming service Crunchyroll regularly uses this event to make major announcements.
- Aniplex could also announce the 3rd season itself at its own online festival. The event takes place annually in September.
Of course, it is also possible that Season 3 will be announced later. However, we should rather expect an announcement after 2025. Given the great success, it is likely that something will still come.
