Solo Leveling is a webtoon from Korea that is celebrated by anime fans worldwide. The corresponding video game for the series will be released soon on Steam. However, it features an aspect that one would not have expected given the name of the webtoon.
What kind of video game is this? At the Xbox Showcase 2025 (via YouTube), a new trailer for Solo Leveling Arise Overdrive was shown. It is an action RPG where you can replay the story of Solo Leveling.
The title is said to have exclusive content that was not seen in the webtoon. Here, we follow the adventures of Sung Jin-woo, who makes a name for himself as a hunter in dungeons by defeating monsters. Although it is about the solo leveling of Jin-woo, the anime is perfect for MMORPG fans thanks to its class system and dungeons.
Besides a “heavy weapon crafting system,” the game promises a total of 8 class advancements that players can choose from a skill tree. However, another feature present in the action RPG does not fit at all with the anime template.
Solo Leveling, but with multiple players
What doesn’t quite fit with the anime? As the title Solo Leveling already suggests, the plot follows the lonely leveling of Jin-woo. He fights through particularly challenging dungeons alone and keeps leveling up.
Even when he is with other party members, they usually do not contribute to the success of the dungeon. Jin-woo often defeats a dungeon boss alone and saves his comrades’ lives.
Nevertheless, the developers have come up with a mode where you can tackle a dungeon with other players. It is possible to complete different raids with a total of 4 players with commanders as bosses.
Players can choose whether they want to play as Jin-woo or other hunters. It may happen that a group consists entirely of 4 Jin-woos. This contrasts with the name Solo Leveling.
When will it be released? The title is scheduled to be released in 2025 for PC via Steam and Xbox. Those who want to test the game can already do so on Steam. The Steam Next Fest is currently taking place, where a demo for various games is available.
