PlayStation Account Sharing and Share Play

Anyone who wants to use their account or games on a second console for a friend, within the family, or for themselves must proceed as follows:
- First, start the first console and log in with your regular account.
- Then deactivate the setting “Activate as your primary PS4” under “PSN”.
- On the second console, create a new user.
- For this user, enter the information of the regular account. This means using the sign-in ID and password.
- This account is now set to “primary”. This can also be done through the PSN settings.
- You will now have access to the digital games on both devices in the PlayStation Store.
- As soon as a third account is added, the second one will be removed.
What is the difference to “Share Play”?
With Share Play, the game content is streamed to your friend’s console. Therefore, the gaming quality on the second console is worse. Additionally, each session is limited to 60 minutes. To use Share Play, follow these steps:
- To activate the Share Play function, you select the “Share” button on the PS4 controller.
- Then select “Start Share Play” from the menu and choose a friend.
- This friend can then watch, play themselves, or join in on a game.
