In Diablo 4 the new season is coming with numerous changes to the items. The uniques are all getting an update, including the coveted Uber Uniques. And the Harlequin’s Crown is now even stronger than before.
Season 5 in Diablo 4 starts on August 6 and not only brings a new endgame activity to the game but also a revision of all uniques and Uber Uniques. The powerful Harlequin’s Crown will also be updated.
The Harlequin’s Crown is a headgear that is referred to by many players as “Shako”. It is an Uber Unique, one of the rarest items in Diablo 4. It has fixed properties and is considered the best headgear for almost any build in Diablo 4. All five classes can equip the headgear.

Enables “ridiculously high” cooldown reduction
What changes are coming to the Harlequin’s Crown? In a blog post, Blizzard explains that they are updating all uniques in Diablo 4 with Season 5. In this context, they present a screenshot showing the Uber Unique “Harlequin’s Crown”.
The “new” headgear has the following stats:
- +maximum life
- +resource maximum
- +armor
- +cooldown reduction
In addition, the headgear gives you a bonus to damage reduction and a full 4 ranks to all your skills. Below you can see the old headgear on the left and the “new” one on the right in the images:
How is the community reacting to the changes? Diablo expert wudijo calls the updated Harlequin’s Crown an “absolute beast” in his YouTube video. He says that if you improve the headgear with the crafting system “Completion” and have cooldown reduction as a “Greater Affix” (i.e., 1.5x as strong), you could increase its value to 54% – and that is “wild”.
The changes to the Harlequin’s Crown are being discussed in a post on Reddit. “DreadfuryDK” writes in the comment: “50% cooldown reduction [that could be achieved] is ridiculously high […], but an item like this should be completely crazy. Of course, it was already crazy before, but now it’s just… extra crazy.” Also, “Mephistito” finds: “This thing is totally crazy now.”
And “CruyffsLegacy” says: “This is a pretty significant upgrade. […] I would also argue that the new affixes are significantly stronger. […] the armor increase means that you are only one armor affix away from the cap on another piece of equipment.”
The Harlequin’s Crown gives you a bonus of 2,500 armor without improvement – in addition to the 1,156 armor that the headgear generally has. The armor cap in Diablo 4 is at 9,230.
What else is changing with the uniques? The other uniques and Uber Uniques are also getting an update. Uber Uniques will become Mythic Uniques and will then be purple. The developers write in their blog post that they want to make uniques special again in the Season of the Infernal Hordes. They should be the best for the skills they support in the respective builds.
