Next weekend, you can set sail again in Sea of Thieves. A new beta is already on the horizon.
On Friday, the next testing round of Sea of Thieves kicks off, inviting you to hoist the sails. Whether alone or with friends, there are islands and treasure chests to discover in the coming days.
Scale Test in March – Beta Participation
Apparently, the developers at Rare have taken a liking to the scale tests. This is already the third consecutive weekend that Sea of Thieves can be played in the so-called scale test. During this time, servers are intentionally strained, and the developers collect important server data for the future.
You can participate and test the game as a beta.
The third stress test of Sea of Thieves starts on Friday, March 2nd, at 11:00 AM. You can participate until Sunday, March 4th, at 11:00 AM German time.
The goal of this testing phase is to test the latest work of the developers. The team hopes to set a new record for concurrent players.
How do you participate in the beta? Participation is quite simple; practically anyone can join. Any Xbox Insider, pre-order customer, or participant of the closed beta can take part in the scale test. Those who are not yet insiders can easily register in the Insider Hub on Windows 10 or Xbox One. You can find the Hub in the respective Store.
If you have downloaded the Insider Hub, you can search for Sea of Thieves there and register for the scale test. (The test may still be listed in the Store as “Sea of Thieves – Closed Beta”.

You can expect issues like server downs
Such stress tests are conducted by the developers to test the servers under special conditions. So expect no significant content changes compared to previous scale tests. Some features that will be available later in the released game are not yet accessible now.
While you play, the servers may go offline, leading to queues or login issues.
There was NO Wipe!
The special thing about this scale test is that your progress has been saved, and you do not start over. Players noticed this negatively in the last test.
In the third scale test, you have access to gold and items from the last test weekend. The team has now confirmed this on Twitter.
What happens in Sea of Thieves?
In Sea of Thieves, you experience funny and exciting adventures in the life of a pirate. The game offers crossplay between PC and console, allowing you to form a crew with up to three other friends.
With your crew, you embark on adventures, search for hidden treasure chests, and fight nasty foes who defend the treasures. When you encounter ships from other players, it’s time to man the cannons. What says “get lost!” more clearly than round, flying 400-kilo projectiles?
If you do not encounter other players on your travels, you still have tasks. Because someone must take the helm to keep you on course. The course is given by a player assigned to navigation. The others lookout for foes and set the sails to catch the wind.
When you finally recover a treasure, you can exchange it for gold rewards on the starting island. For this, you can then buy new weapons and outfits.
