On Steam, you can currently get a very good survival game for under €20. But beware: This game is said to be so good that it might ruin the enjoyment of other games for you afterward.
Which game is being referred to? It is the highly praised survival game Abiotic Factor by players. The game started Early Access in May 2024 and costs only €19.60 on Steam instead of €24.50. So until February 11, you can save 20% off the purchase price.
Additionally, the survival game recently received a major free update called “Dark Energy.” This brings a new underground region and expands the main story.

What is the game about? In Abiotic Factor, you (either alone or with up to 5 other players) take on the role of scientists. After a catastrophic event in your lab, portals to other dimensions suddenly appear, through which paranormal creatures emerge.
As scientists, you may not be born fighters, but you can craft pretty sophisticated weapons and tools. Additionally, before the game begins, you choose one from many doctor titles that grant you special abilities and advantages.
How is the game currently being received? Of over 19,000 reviews on Steam, 96% are positive. The important mechanics such as crafting and progression feel satisfying according to many players, and exploration is also fun, especially in co-op with friends or family.
According to a Steam review, the game is even said to be so good that players do not want to switch to other genre representatives afterward. For example, fish&chips writes on Steam:
- “This game has ruined my view of open-world survival crafting games forever. The bar is now set so high that everything else feels half-baked, and I’m posting this while the game is still not fully released.”
When will the game leave Early Access? According to the current roadmap from the developers, it is expected to happen in late spring 2025. The developers neither confirm nor deny that the standard price will increase with the release of version 1.0.
