Ruffy’s Straw Hat crew now has a total of 10 members – including the captain. However, the crew could have been much larger. Fans are now discussing on Reddit who else should have joined for the great treasure hunt.
Monkey D. Ruffy’s Straw Hat crew currently consists of a total of 11 strong men and women: Captain Ruffy, swordsman Zoro, navigator Nami, sniper Lysop, cook Sanji, ship’s doctor Chopper, archaeologist Nico Robin, carpenter Franky, musician Brook, and helmsman Jinbei.
Throughout their journey, they have had several temporary members and allies, whose potential future membership is hotly debated. One Piece fans are currently sharing their thoughts on Reddit about who they would like to see as a permanent member and who they still have high hopes for.

Nefeltari Vivi
Vivi meets the Straw Hat crew in Whiskey Peak, the first island they visit on the Grand Line. At first, she is an antagonist, but later reveals herself to be Princess Vivi of Alabasta. To protect her, her loyal bodyguard asks Ruffy to take Vivi with them.
With the help of her newfound pirate friends, they defeat the Baroque Works and drive them out of her homeland. However, she reluctantly decides to stay in Alabasta. After the time skip and during the events in Wano Kuni, Vivi participates in the Reverie. There, she becomes embroiled in the machinations of the Revolutionary Army.
Vivi has long been popular in the community. Accordingly, she also appears in the current discussion about unofficial and possible future Straw Hats. Reddit user Different_Network702 hopes, for example, that she will meet the crew on the island of giants Elbaf and will join them again. Also, Adventurous-Topic202 wishes for Vivi’s return – they say she is not a strong character, but he has always liked her.
Jewelry Bonney
Jewelry Bonney is the captain of the Bonney Pirates and first appears on the Sabaody Archipelago. There, she saves Zoro from world aristocrats by transforming into a little girl: she has eaten the Toshi-Toshi-no-Mi, which allows her to change her own and others’ ages.
After the time skip, she appears during the Reverie in Mary Joa and meets the Straw Hat crew, who are on their way to Egghead. It turns out that Bonney is the adoptive daughter of Bartholomew Kuma. And that she is actually only 12 years old. Together with Ruffy’s crew, she confronts the invading Marine soldiers as well as the Buster Call.
Because Ruffy promised Bonney that he would protect her, Redditor shrimpinman suspects that she will join the Straw Hats. Some agree. Among them is also AbdulazizQQQ, who writes that she is the most likely candidate.
Bon Curry
Reddit user filthysmutslut, on the other hand, writes: Bon Curry for the Straw Hat crew! He fought in Impel Down – come what may.
DestinyHasArrived101 even goes so far as to write that for him, Bon Curry is a Straw Hat, and he accepts nothing else.
Bon Curry, also known as Mr. 2, first appears in One Piece shortly before Alabasta. He can change his appearance thanks to the Mane-Mane-no-Mi and is therefore a dangerous opponent in the fight against Baroque Works. He later helps the Straw Hats escape from the Marines.
He meets Ruffy again in Impel Down, where they both endure the harshest tortures together. There, he saves the Straw Hat’s life several times and even stands up to the prison warden Magellan. He narrowly survives the encounter and is still imprisoned in Impel Down after the time skip. Ruffy himself has until now believed that his friend died in the battle against Magellan.
Yamato
In the original Reddit post by ScoreImaginary5254, he writes that he was disappointed that Yamato did not join the Straw Hats after Wano Kuni.
Yamato is the child of Kaido, one of the original four emperors. Although born as a woman, they identify as a man due to their great admiration and desire to be like their idol Kozuki Oden. Due to their adoration of Oden, Yamato is also in conflict with their father, who cannot stand the fact that his child is emulating one of his old adversaries.
Ruffy meets Yamato during the storm on Onigashima. The two form an alliance, and Yamato plays a critical role in the victory against Kaido: they protect Oden’s biological son Momonosuke, decimate the number of opponents, and keep Kaido at bay when Ruffy had to take an initial defeat against Kaido.
Although Yamato expressed a strong desire to go to sea with the Straw Hats, they ultimately decided to stay in Wano Kuni.
The community suspects that Yamato actually has a good chance of becoming the 12th Straw Hat later on: like Jinbei, they could first close personal matters and join later. Brook also initially declined membership but later requested to join. Reddit user IneedAnEKG writes that if Yamato truly wants to live like Oden, they will set sail sooner or later anyway and reappear accordingly.
