MeinMMO asked you what is important to you when buying a graphics card. You responded, and the results are clear. We will reveal this much in advance: If you want to buy an RTX 3080, RTX 3090, or RX 6700 XT, then the price is by far the most important factor for you.
What is it about? AMD and Nvidia released many new graphics cards in winter 2020 and spring 2021. Therefore, we wanted to know from you what you pay the most attention to when buying a graphics card.
This is how you voted: The survey started on March 24, 2021. As of the time of this article (April 2, 2021, 9:56 AM), a total of 804 people participated. Participants were able to vote multiple times, resulting in a total of 2514 votes cast.
In the following section, we will present the individual results and discuss the respective rankings.
Price is by far the most important factor for you when buying
This is the winner: Looking at the numbers, you have a clear favorite regarding what you pay attention to when buying a graphics card, and that is price-performance: 619 votes went to “price-performance.”
That may not be surprising in times when graphics cards are hardly available or sold at very high prices. Graphics cards like the RTX 3080 are landing at exorbitant prices on eBay or some retailers are already asking for double the regular list price at release.
This comes in at 2nd place: The second most votes in the poll were for the size of the video memory. 364 votes were cast for this. Video memory is especially important for ray tracing and high resolutions. The GeForce RTX 3090, Nvidia’s flagship model, even offers a whopping 24 GB of video memory.
What completes the top 3? The third most votes from you were for good cooling of the graphics card. This received a total of 266 votes. Some of our readers also explain how important water cooling is to them. For example, MeinMMO reader NewClearPower writes:
For me, the most important thing is an available full-cover water cooling block. For many models that do not conform to the reference design, this is not available. I can ignore things like OC or noise.
The size of the graphics card hardly matters to MeinMMO readers
How does it look in the second half? In the midfield are “noise level” (238 votes), “connection options” (183 votes), and “ray tracing” (164 votes) close together.
DLSS is trailing a bit behind ray tracing with 122 votes. Here, especially Nvidia graphics cards show their full strength, particularly in the combination of ray tracing and DLSS. DLSS is still Nvidia’s exclusive feature – even if AMD wants to catch up here.
What is at the end of our survey? The least of our readers value the size of the graphics card. Only 89 votes were cast for that, placing it last in our survey.
The appearance and design of the graphics card also play only a minor role for our readers (120 votes).
MeinMMO reader Takumidoragon writes:
Performance is important, then price, and then connections and size (it has to fit in the case). I can do without RGB, I prefer it simple.
At least 100 people agree that they generally do not care about the price and only care about performance. However, this is only a small group on MeinMMO. Because our top 3 alone show that price-performance is the most important factor for our readers when buying a graphics card.
Here are all the results of the survey in persons/percentages:
| Category | Votes (with %) |
|---|---|
| Price/Performance | 24.62 %, 619 votes |

| Noise Level | 9.47 %, 238 votes |
| Connections | 7.28 %, 183 votes |
| Ray Tracing | 6.52 %, 164 votes |
| Custom Manufacturer | 5.05 %, 127 votes |
| DLSS | 4.85 %, 122 votes |
