Are graphics cards currently too expensive for you and you are no longer willing to pay double the MSRP for a GeForce RTX 3080? In a call, Nvidia now explains that prices will remain high for a long time.
What it’s about: Nvidia held an earnings call for the last quarter. In such an earnings call, management discusses the company’s financial results with analysts, investors, and media. It often involves discussing how they are positioned for the future (and for the next quarter).
Who is speaking? During the earnings call, Jensen Huang speaks. He is the CEO of Nvidia, one of the most important chip manufacturers in the world.
In the earnings call, he explains to investors how things will look for graphics cards in the coming months. And Huang has at least bad news for gamers.
He says:
In the meantime, we have quite significant long-term supply commitments and are securing them as we expand into all these different areas we have prepared for. I would expect that we will have a constrained supply situation for most of next year.

At the same time, they achieved record revenues in the GPU sector last quarter, despite the extensive supply bottlenecks.
What does this mean? This means for those of you who want to buy a graphics card that prices may still remain very high throughout the coming year. We therefore expect that prices will not improve until at least 2023.
The times when greedy scalpers sold their graphics cards on eBay for thousands of euros are therefore not over yet. These scalpers believe they might be helping people with the purchase of consoles and graphics cards by overcharging.
Despite high prices, 2022 could be an exciting year for gamers
What can you expect in 2022? Even though graphics card prices will likely remain very high next year, there are still some exciting news on the horizon.
Manufacturers are already preparing the next generation of graphics cards behind the scenes. There are already early leaks reporting that the GeForce RTX 4090 is expected to be twice as fast as the current RTX 3090. However, we do not yet know when these graphics cards will be released, as Nvidia has not yet presented any new graphics cards.
Additionally, Nvidia is reportedly working on a project code-named “Ada Lovelace.” Some suspect, however, that this codename could pertain to the official graphics chip for Nintendo’s Switch Pro. Many users are also currently waiting for a Switch Pro, as the presented Nintendo Switch OLED version did not fulfill many hopes.
Therefore, if you haven’t been able to get a graphics card yet, because the GPUs were either unavailable or very expensive, it could be worth waiting until 2022. MyMMO will keep you updated if anything changes.
