The role-playing scene in GTA 5 Online is booming and extremely popular on Twitch. Now the streamer Dr. Disrespect has also watched a role-playing stream and is impressed.
So popular is RP in GTA: In 2019, GTA 5 Online received a significant boost on Twitch. Suddenly, many people started watching the game, and “blame” for that was the role-playing. Big streamers like summit1g or LIRIK tried the role-playing on special RP servers.
Here, you have the opportunity to play criminals, police officers, or normal citizens. You also think up a story for the character you want to embody. An employee in a snack bar, a mail carrier, or classically a criminal posing as an innocent passerby.
The players make an effort to play their characters realistically for the GTA setting. The various events and interactions are coordinated via Discord, and it often leads to funny situations between the players, where they react creatively.
Especially the private GTA RP server NoPixels 3.0 is used by many large streamers to engage in role-playing together. Big streamers like sodapoppin, LIRIK, or forsen are among them. The launch of the NoPixels 3.0 server even caused GTA 5 Online to briefly reach first place on Twitch in February 2021.
However, there are also strict behavior rules that everyone must adhere to. For example, the streamer xQc was kicked from the server because he cheated.
“It’s addictive to watch that.”
What did the Doc say? The popular streamer Dr. Disrespect also watched the RP action in GTA 5 over the stream of the banned xQc and is impressed by the quality of the role-playing.
In a tweet about the RP, the Doc wrote: “I’m currently watching the GTA RP stream from @xQc, trying to understand what’s going on. It’s somehow addictive to watch. The voice acting talent and various characters, and how it all thrives in real-time… impressive. There should be a kind of GTA RP show to keep people updated.”
In the comments under the tweet, fans agreed with him. Some of them even encouraged the Doc to start role-playing in GTA 5 himself, and he might not mind. But unfortunately, that is not possible.
The Twitch ban is still in effect
That’s why the Doc can’t participate: Even though Dr. Disrespect seems to have a great interest in GTA role-playing and his community thinks it’s cool, it is not possible for him to participate in the RP. Since June 2020, the streamer has been banned on Twitch and has essentially been rendered an outcast.
Not only is the Doc not allowed to stream on Twitch himself, he also cannot appear in other people’s streams. This regulation is meant to prevent people from circumventing their account bans and appearing on other channels.
Thus, Disrespect was also not allowed to participate in a tournament for CoD Warzone. Similar is the case now with the role-playing of GTA 5 Online.
Even the streamer Esfand, who participates in the RP, expressed his regret that Dr. Disrespect cannot join. He wrote: “I wish you could play with us. It’s super funny, and the viewers love it. It’s a game that really shows how much natural creativity and ingenuity some people have.”
It is another problem arising from Dr. Disrespect’s ban on Twitch. The streamer has already admitted on YouTube that he is struggling with the ban and has real problems with it. But as long as the ban situation around the Doc continues, it will remain that way. Currently, there are no signs that Twitch might reverse his ban.
