Revelation Online is a Free2Play MMO where players can also purchase items in the cash shop. Since the last update, “Crusade Treasure Maps” have appeared there, which some players claim are Pay2Win.
In Revelation Online, you fight as a flying hero against various monsters, demons, and villains – or against other players in PvP. There are even epic guild wars and the siege of flying fortresses.
For optimal PvP power, you need PvP stones, which were previously Tier 4. The fact that Tier-6 stones are now obtainable through the cash shop is causing a stir in Revelation Online.
Revelation Online – Top PvP gear for real money?
Since the latest update in Revelation Online, there are various cosmetic gear and dungeon unlocks available in the cash shop, including treasure maps, a kind of RNG loot box, with which buyers can also find superior T6 PvP stones.
This is causing a lot of turmoil in the community and in the game’s forum. There, fans are making serious Pay2Win allegations.
Players are complaining: With the loot box containing T6 stones, buyers have an advantage over those who only possess the regularly obtainable T4 stones. “Cashers” would be so clearly superior in other games.
One accusation from fans is that these cash shop items were only available in the Russian version of Revelation Online two months after the release. In the western version, they appeared just two weeks after the open beta start.
According to a forum user, you can also obtain the treasure maps through regular gameplay in “Ninefold Assault” and thus it is merely “Pay2Progress”. However, according to other users, the cash shop version of the maps can be purchased right away in a package.
Thus, paying customers receive the good PvP crystals much faster and in greater numbers, giving them a clear advantage over pure Free2Play players.
Pay2Win? – All or just half as bad?
According to another forum user, the developers have now nullified the effort and work of top players, as now any other player with enough money can get something better.
Other players, in turn, are completely beside themselves and demand an immediate server rollback and the removal of the treasure maps from the shop.
Other players claim that the prices of the PvP stones have dropped rapidly in the auction house and that the whole thing would balance itself out. Moreover, it is not guaranteed that such a stone is obtained every time a treasure map is purchased. There is still a significant RNG factor.
As always, when it comes to Pay2Win allegations, the discussion is heated and the community is divided.
