What was Swordsman Online? Swordsman Online was a martial arts game published by Perfect World. The game was based on the popular Wuxia novels by Chinese bestselling author Jin Yong. Swordsman Online primarily focused on an action combat system and the Asian aesthetic set in medieval China.
Why it failed: According to publisher Perfect World, there simply was no audience for the Asian MMORPG in this region. Thus, it had no chance to grow in the local market and had to die.
How long did the game last? When Swordsman Online was shut down on June 5, 2018, it had at least been almost four years old.
