Devilian (December 10, 2015 – March 5, 2018)
What was Devilian? Devilian was an action RPG MMO from Korea. It came from the developer of PUBG, Bluehole. In Devilian, you played as a half-demon and fought through other hellish creatures.
Why it failed: Devilian had long since closed in Korea. Only the western version was still operational. However, new content was hardly forthcoming, and the game floundered.
Then Bluehole suddenly had major success with the battle-royale shooter PUBG and shifted resources to the new game.
Thus, the team behind Devilian, Bluehole Ginno, was moved to the exclusive PUBG company “PUBG Corporation”. Naturally, they had no time to care for ailing action RPG MMO and ceased operations.
How long did the game last? Devilian lasted just a little over two years and was shut down early in 2018. On March 5, 2018, the end came.
This is what remains positively in memory: Devilian was a lot of fun thanks to its action RPG combat system. However, the coolest aspect of the game was its devil form. Once you unleashed your ultimate attack, your hero transformed into a real devil and could wreak havoc. It was spectacular and effective at the same time.
On the next page, there is an action MMORPG whose predecessor is still alive.
