What was Master X Master? Master X Master was a colorful mix of many genres. It had a MOBA mode, an arena with few players, and even PvE missions where you could proceed cooperatively. The game was colorful and was controlled from an isometric perspective.
Moreover, it was a kind of Heroes of the Storm for the games published by NCSoft. Thus, it featured heroes and villains from games like Aion, Lineage, Guild Wars 2, and WildStar.
Why it failed: Master X Master faced the issue that MOBAs and similar games did not really succeed alongside the giants LoL and DotA. Furthermore, the mix of many genres was not ideal for every player. The colorful buffet of genres did not appeal to many.
Thus, the number of players kept decreasing, and eventually there were too few to justify server operation. Therefore, they decided shortly after release to shut down the servers.
How long did the game last? Master X Master had a very short life. Just seven months after launch, it ended on January 31, 2018. Thus, Master X Master became the first dead MMO of 2018.
This is what remains positively in memory: Anyone who delved into Master X Master could unleash themselves in various ways. Especially the MOBA mode had some good ideas. You could assume the form of gigantic Titans and control them. They effortlessly trampled through every defense and provided a substantial boost of success sensation.
