Gigantic (July 20, 2017 – July 31, 2018)
What was Gigantic? Gigantic was a hero shooter like Overwatch, but with some MOBA elements. The goal was to battle an opposing giant creature. However, the beast was too large and dangerous for direct attacks.
Therefore, you had to conquer strategic points to empower your own giant monster to defeat the enemy beast. Only then could you wound it for a short time.
Why it failed: Gigantic had a tough start, and the studio Motiga had to find new sponsors multiple times to avoid closure. In the end, however, nothing helped. The tactical gameplay, where players had to conquer points to progress, was too confusing for many new players.
Moreover, the extremely quirky comic graphics were certainly not to every shooter fan’s taste. Thus, the plug was pulled on Gigantic.
How long did the game last? Since Gigantic lived only from July 20, 2017, to July 31, 2018, it was barely a year old.
This is what remains positively in memory: Gigantic was a lot of fun once you got the somewhat tricky gameplay down. Then you could witness how two gigantic monsters had a showdown and then join in the fray. Moreover, the unusual art style of the game was a major highlight.
There were incredibly cool heroes, including a type of monkey that had a magic staff in each hand and one in its prehensile tail. Or the lovable grandpa Uncle Swen, who threw potions around like a madman.
