With the new issue of the Respec column, we once again look at the indie scene and see what happened last week in the MMO space.
Gloria Victis
The developers of the MMORPG Gloria Victis are working hard on their game. They take the feedback from the alpha to heart and try to improve the game based on the suggestions and ideas of the testers. Thus, with an update, the combat system has been revised. The calculations in the background have been changed and adjusted, making the fights feel better and more exciting. For example, NPCs are now also able to land critical hits. In addition, the update reduces CPU load, allowing the developers to focus on improving the game’s performance in future updates.
Tree of Savior
The MMORPG Tree of Savior also received a new update. This brings a number of changes to the game’s beta, currently taking place via Steam. These changes include that all classes have now been expanded to a seventh rank and the level cap has been raised to 280. The speed at which you level up has been adjusted, and new places in the game world can now be explored. There is now also a rating system for all locations, and the new special class Templar has been introduced. This class allows players to create guilds and participate in guild wars. Anyone interested in an unofficial, yet very similar successor to Ragnarok Online can try to secure a place in the closed beta.
Camelot Unchained
An update showcasing a new character class took place in Camelot Unchained . The developers of the spiritual successor to Dark Age of Camelot introduced the Stealther. This class comes in three variations. The Tuatha Dé Danann is an assassin who utilizes the power of blood for his treacherous attacks. The Veilstalker is more of a magical thief, who can camouflage effectively. The Shadow Walker, however, can be described as the battle-hardened Stealther. It is better not to encounter them in a dark alley. Whoever plans to play a thief class in the upcoming MMORPG Camelot Unchained will find the Stealther to be an excellent choice.
Albion Online
Sandbox Interactive provided a glimpse into the upcoming update. While the closed beta of Albion Online is a great success, the developers are already working on new content. The update, named “Arelius,” will introduce several chat channels, improved visibility of spell cooldowns, and a way to manually end combat mode. Additionally, ten new spells and new abilities for several weapons will be introduced. Although Albion Online is a game focused on PvP, 23 new PvE dungeons will also be introduced, where new enemies and boss monsters can be encountered.
Ever, Jane
The MMORPG aimed at fans of Jane Austen’s novels received a comprehensive update to provide newcomers with a better entry into the game world. New players are led into a special room where they are introduced to the game’s basics before being released into the game world. Additionally, several bugs have been fixed, and visual improvements have been made. For those who don’t know Ever, Jane: This is an MMORPG set in Victorian England, focusing on becoming a recognized member of society. It’s not about fighting, but about building a reputation. Quests also play a role.
Pangea: New World
The post-apocalyptic shooter MMO Pangea: New World is currently being funded through Kickstarter. To attract even more backers, the team has now released a tech demo (dropbox.com) of the game. This demo provides a small insight into the MMO. However, one should not expect too much, as the game is still in a very early development phase. Those interested in post-apocalyptic scenarios, MMORPGs, and fast shooter action can take a look at the demo. Perhaps they will find it appealing and want to support the Kickstarter campaign for the game afterwards.
