With a patch, Rockstar Games aimed to fix the crashes, crashes, and blue screens in Red Dead Redemption 2. However, many players are still complaining about issues.
What is going on with RDR 2 on PC? The launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 is plagued with problems. On one side, many players can play without issues and are blasting through the story with our tips, while others struggle with problems for the second day in a row.
Rockstar’s solution: On the evening of November 5, Rockstar Games released an update for their Rockstar Games Launcher. The patch notes state:
- A bug was fixed that caused the launcher to display the error “The Rockstar Games Launcher failed to initialize” upon startup
- A bug was fixed that caused the preload to get stuck during decryption
- A bug was fixed that caused the launcher to display the error “The Rockstar Games Launcher has unexpectedly exited” when launching Red Dead Redemption 2
- A bug was fixed that caused the Rockstar Games Launcher to crash when launched through the Epic Games Launcher
- A bug was fixed that caused the launcher to display the error “Could not start the game, please verify your game data” when launching Red Dead Redemption 2 through the Epic Games Launcher
The result: Still problems
Now this patch should eliminate a significant number of the errors. However, players are stating that there are still crashes and issues with the game.
On Twitter, many players are responding to support that they continue to have the same problems, and the new patch did not help them.
Mood among players is low: On Reddit, there is now a collection thread for the second day of problems. The thread already has over 300 comments after 3 hours. Many are annoyed that they still cannot play today.
“I am still getting the error that the Rockstar Games Launcher has unexpectedly exited. I can’t believe it’s been 24 hours and Rockstar still hasn’t fixed this,” writes a player in the comments on Reddit.
Others report that they are demanding their money back. “[…] If they don’t solve the crashing and stuttering soon, I will demand my money back,” writes a Reddit user. In response, another player states that he is already asking for a refund but has not received a reply yet.
