Red Dead Redemption 2’s update 1.14 is now live for PC. It weighs 2.91 GB and should fix the most serious issues. A combination of Nvidia graphics cards, drivers, and certain CPUs caused PCs to stutter. The RDR 2 Patch Notes promise solutions for 64 problems.
This is the main issue: Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on November 5 for PC. But players had major problems. Right from the release, the game crashed for many cowboys as soon as they tried to start it.
One problem was particularly annoying: the stuttering. As Rockstar reported yesterday, a combination of Nvidia graphics drivers, Nvidia graphics cards, and certain CPUs caused PCs to stutter.
Rockstar aims to address the underlying causes of the issue in the future. However, the update today aims to resolve the most pressing problems. The new patch is supposed to bring a “workaround” that temporarily resolves this issue by relieving the CPU.
The 2.91 GB patch is now live and can be downloaded.
What do the patch notes for Red Dead Redemption 2 reveal?
What kind of update is this? The patch primarily brings:
- Improvements for problems caused by “Vulkan”
- Improvements for graphics issues in fullscreen when multiple monitors were used
- A fix for a bug that caused a crash after the BenchMmrk
- Solutions for numerous other interface and stability issues – the word “Fixed” appears 64 times in the patch notes
This confirms what many players suspected: The launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC was quite rough.
The full patch notes for the update can be found here at Rockstargames.
What comes next? Rockstar has announced that they will compensate PC players of Red Dead Redemption 2. Players will receive a “care package” for Red Dead Online, the online mode for Red Dead Redemption 2, in the coming days. The contents include a “Prieto Poncho”, supplies, and ammunition.
Rockstar intends to continue working with Nvidia to resolve the issues.
