The story of Solo Leveling is currently running as an anime. For those who can’t wait for the next season to begin, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok might be something for them. MeinMMO explains what it is and where you can read it.
Use the following overview to jump directly to the information you want:
The story of Solo Leveling has been complete since 2021. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t experience more from the world where protagonist Sung Jin-woo lives. With Ragnarok, there is a direct sequel that connects to the adventures. We encounter the same phenomenon as with Naruto and his son Boruto, as it continues with the next generation.

What is Ragnarok, anyway?
Ragnarok is the sequel to Solo Leveling. It began in April 2023 as a web novel and was adapted into a webtoon in August 2024. The story takes place a few years after the events of Solo Leveling. This time, however, the focus is not on Sung Jin-woo but on his son Sung Su-ho. Yet, he knows nothing about his father’s extraordinary past.
Like in Solo Leveling, Su-ho lives in a world where hunters deal with the monsters behind the gates. Su-ho is also drawn into this world at the age of 21 when his origins and a new threat come to light. Jin-woo’s son has to face the Itarim, particularly strong opponents, and possesses the same ability as his father – he can level up.
Even though Ragnarok has a new author, it captures the essence of its predecessor well. Those who enjoyed Solo Leveling will find nothing wrong with the successor. Everything feels familiar, just with the sense that a new generation has to face the dangers.
Where can I read it for free?
If you can read Korean, you can head directly to the page of KAKAO PAGE. For those who can only read English, Tapas is a good alternative.
There is not yet a manhwa (Korean version of manga). The predecessor, Solo Leveling, is published by Altraverse. Presumably, Ragnarok will also be published by this publisher when the webtoon version comes to an end.
What about Jin-woo?
The protagonist from Solo Leveling is still alive. Su-ho’s father has chosen to lead a peaceful life after the events of the predecessor. It often becomes clear how much his family means to him. By the way, he is with an S-rank hunter and former companion, who also appears in Solo Leveling.
He observes the happenings with Su-ho from the background and still maintains control over the shadow army as the shadow monarch. In Ragnarok, it is about how much power he wants to entrust to his son and when he must intervene himself. He watches everything from the shadows and sees Su-ho grow stronger.
What about an anime?
There will probably be one or two more seasons of Solo Leveling until the anime is completed. Only then could Ragnarok start with its own anime. If Ragnarok starts immediately after Solo Leveling and the release rhythm is maintained, it wouldn’t be until January 2027 or January 2028.
Therefore, fans must be patient until the successor of Solo Leveling appears as an anime. First, the start of season 3 is on the horizon. What we already know about it can be read in the following information article: Solo Leveling Season 3: Release, Streaming, and Leaks Overview
