Holiday lights, snowmen, and decorated Christmas trees – such things are not usually associated with the tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege. But this is exactly what the new winter event is all about.
What kind of event is this? Normally, Rainbow Six revolves around themes like counter-terrorism, special units, and missions around the world. But the new winter event is called “Snow Brawl” and transforms Rainbow Six Siege into a winter battlefield.
There are no rifles, pistols, or explosives used here, as you would normally find in the shooter’s multiplayer battles. No, in “Snow Brawl” the weapons are: snowballs and snowball launchers.
When does Snow Brawl run? Snow Brawl is available from today, December 14, until January 4. You have three weeks to soak your opponents thoroughly with a hefty amount of snow.
Two teams face off in the Rainbow snowball fight
This is how Snow Brawl works: You can choose from two different groups:
- On one side, there are the offensive “Orange Blizzards,” consisting of winter variants of the operators Ash, Blackbeard, Buck, Montagne, and Osa.
- On the other side are the defensive “Blue Blades” with Castle, Frost, Rook, Vigil, and the latest operator Thorn.
These teams then face off on the snowfield in a Capture-The-Flag mode. The rules are simple: Grab the flag from the enemy base and bring it to your own to score points.
It looks like a casual, fun affair. You can watch it more closely here in the trailer:
If you want to prevent your enemies from transporting the flag, a well-aimed snowball to the face will do the trick. It takes three hits to knock out opponents and send them back to respawn.
The player with the most points at the end wins.
There are the following boosts on the map:
- Movement speed
- Rate of fire
- Snowball ammo
- Health
What else does the event offer? Besides the snowball fight, you can also get winter cosmetics – either by completing certain challenges or by using R6 Credits or reputation.
What do you think of the new event? Can it excite you for a round of snowball throwing? Let us know in the comments!
Rainbow Six Siege has been around for a few years now. MyMMO editor Benedict Grothaus, however, thinks: It doesn’t need a sequel.
