The battle royale shooter Playerunknown’s Battleground – PUBG is simply enormously successful. As the developers announced, more than 26 million copies have been sold so far. The number of concurrent players and the amount of distributed chicken dinners are astronomical.
26 million sold games is quite a number. However, it should be noted that this figure does not reflect the number of active players. Especially regarding cheaters, Bluehole takes strict action and bans many accounts. Many cheaters then buy the shooter again, only to possibly get banned again.

New Record on Steam
A bit more interesting is the number of players who are concurrently active in the game on Steam. Here, PUBG has steadily set new records. Again now, as the developers have announced 3.15 million “Concurrent Players”. No other game can boast such a high number of concurrent players on Steam. And no other game even comes close to that number. In second place, according to Steamcharts, we find DotA 2 with around 780,000 “Concurrent Players”. There’s quite a gap to PUBG.
Additionally, Bluehole released some other figures regarding the title:
- 13,418,123 players have been eliminated with a frying pan
- 130,260,892 Chicken Dinners have been served – enough to feed the population of Germany – and there’s still plenty left for Austria and Switzerland
- 2,721,151,620 hours have been played
- 10,240,599,028 bandages have been used by players
A tremendous success
Even more interesting figures, including how often the M416 was chosen compared to the M16A4 or the AKM as equipment and what the preferred vehicles are, can be seen in the image released by the developers.
The market research firm SuperData also stated that Bluehole was able to generate around 712 million dollars in revenue with PUBG in 2017!
