In the US, a retailer is once again offering the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X for pre-order today. He emphasizes that the quantities are very limited. But what about in Germany? And are there any new updates on the “3rd wave”?
What’s going on with the pre-orders? The next-gen consoles are very popular in pre-orders. At the launch of the PS5, chaos broke out and the console sold out within a very short time. During the second wave, retailers quickly ran out of stock as well.
The Xbox Series X fared little better, as the consoles were also quickly sold out here. Only the smaller Series S is still available at some retailers.
Since then, many console fans have been waiting for new stock for the next-gen. And at least in the US, the retailer “antonline” is again offering pre-orders today – starting at 8:00 PM German time. However, they directly point out that the quantity is very limited:
Where the consoles are coming from and why this particular shop was provided with them is currently unknown. However, antonline is not entirely unknown. According to their own statement, they are “America’s leading online reseller of modern gaming and computer technology.”
Can you pre-order from Europe as well? antonline only offers shipping within the USA. So, you cannot pre-order there unless you have friends in the country who can send the console to you later.
But what’s the situation in Germany right now? When can we pre-order a PS5 or Xbox Series X again?
What’s happening with a new pre-order wave?
How is the PS5 doing? At the beginning of October, an insider stated that Sony would soon offer new consoles and predicted the start of a possible 3rd wave from October 5. However, this has not yet occurred.
Amazon and MediaMarkt announced at the end of September that there would be no new PlayStation 5 consoles for the foreseeable future. A tweet from Sony, dating back to September, before the 2nd wave, states that there will be more PS5 consoles “by the end of the year”:
When that will be exactly – whether before the release or possibly just before Christmas – is still unknown. Furthermore, the new consoles might only be made available online. Because in the retail sector, the PS5 will likely not be available at launch.
How is the Series X doing? For Microsoft’s console, it also seems that there is a new, large wave of pre-orders coming. A tweet mentioned that fans should keep an eye on retailers and look forward to new consoles starting from November 10, the console’s release date.
Unlike with Sony, however, there are currently no indications that the console will not be available in retail.
However, console fans are hoping that the sale of the PS5 and Xbox Series X at antonline is the potential start of a new wave. However, there are currently no real indications of this.
