Everyone who still wants to buy a PlayStation 5 should be especially vigilant in the coming days. Because the chances are good that the PS5 can be ordered again soon. However, one will probably have to be quick and also need some luck.
Current status of PS5 availability: Even in the new year, the PS5 is still sold out in Germany and is essentially available only through expensive resellers. Officially, there has been no information from Sony yet regarding when to expect a replenishment. However, it appears that there is finally movement in the situation.
Will the PlayStation 5 be available for purchase again soon?
Considering recent developments, there are indeed realistic chances that the PS5 can be ordered again soon.
Reasons to be optimistic: For several days, there have been rumors that German retailers might receive a new supply of PS5 this week (3rd calendar week) or next week (4th calendar week). The website Gameswirtschaft reported this citing insiders. And it seems that this has actually happened.
For example, Saturn has now started sending out outstanding PS5 orders and offers the option to pick up the console in-store. MediaMarkt has begun to charge customers who have placed orders, suggesting that outstanding PS5 consoles will soon be delivered here as well. You can read more about this here: MediaMarkt and Saturn are delivering PS5 again – When will there be more?
So it looks like new PS5 allocations are indeed reaching German retailers at the moment. Additionally, some major retailers in the USA and Europe have already offered new PS5 this week. So there is finally some action, and Germany shouldn’t be an exception.
When will the 4th wave start? Gameswirtschaft expects that the PlayStation 5 could be available for purchase again in Germany as part of these fresh supply deliveries as early as next week (calendar week 4, from January 25 to January 31). So starting from January 25, you should keep an eye on corresponding retailers.
While this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, the site Gameswirtschaft is considered well-informed and has been correct in most cases with their assessments and predictions regarding the PS5.
Keep in mind: The majority of the new PS5 allocations are likely reserved for customers who have already ordered and paid but are still waiting for their goods. Therefore, some retailers might not offer any new consoles for purchase.
While new consoles are expected to be available for order again, it seems only very small quantities will be available. Because previously unfulfilled (pre)orders take precedence according to Gameswirtschaft.
If the 4th wave does indeed start soon, you will need to act quickly and also require a fair bit of luck. The previous ordering waves were all chaotic and the consoles were sold out within minutes.
Which retailers should you check? If you want to secure a PS5, you should particularly look at the following retailers:
- Amazon
- Expert
- Euronics
- Otto
- GameStop
- Medimax
- Müller
- MediaMarkt
- Saturn
Yes, also MediaMarkt and Saturn. Both are expected to re-enter sales according to Gameswirtschaft this time – unlike in the previous two waves (wave 3 and the mini wave 3.5).
It could be worthwhile to keep an eye on these retailers not just from next week, but already now. Because the supply has apparently already reached some retailers this week.
