The PlayStation 5 has now also launched here in Germany. However, the launch went completely differently for players and interested parties, some didn’t experience it at all. And we at MeinMMO want to know: How was the PS5 launch day for you? Pure fun, frustration, or something in between?
Many have been waiting for this: On November 19, it was finally time for us – Sony’s new next-gen console PlayStation 5 launched in Germany – and also in other European countries.
In the USA and a few other countries like Canada, Mexico, or Japan, the PS5 was already available a week earlier, on November 12.
How the launch of the PlayStation 5 went
This is how many started their launch day: For most players and interested parties, the official launch in Germany probably began similarly – with waiting. Waiting for the delivery service. Waiting for new ordering options. Yet in the end, the launch day could hardly have turned out more differently for many.
Great joy and fun
Happy pre-order customers who finally received their PS5 on the 19th could now start their next-gen experience and finally try out the new console themselves – whether with one or another launch title or their favorite games from the PS4 through the backward compatibility feature. And according to early reactions, the PlayStation 5 is generally well-received by its proud owners – even if there were some isolated issues here and there.
Additionally, there was a 3rd wave of orders on launch day and some were pleased to be able to secure a PS5 for the foreseeable future – even if not directly at launch.
Some are still worried about their seemingly secured PS5
Other players are still anxious. This even includes some pre-order customers from the first two waves, where the delivery date changed on launch day or the in-store pickup did not work out. Many might have imagined the start of the PS5 differently.
Additionally, some orders from the latest 3rd wave are already being canceled – like at Otto. So even if one was very lucky and could still order a PS5 last minute on launch day, it’s not always certain that one will actually receive one in the end. Some are being thwarted by the technical issues of the providers.
Not everyone has a PS5 yet – many are frustrated and complaining
Others are not even worrying about whether they will receive their PS5 on time, but whether there will even be one for them this year.
