An image of both PS5 models lying down has appeared on Amazon. For the first time, the lying PS5 Digital Edition is visible. But what are the pros and cons of buying the Digital Edition? The price is not the only argument for considering the purchase of the Digital Edition.
What is it about? An image has appeared on Amazon.com. It was first noticed on reddit. This image shows both the regular and the Digital Edition of the PS5 lying down.
The image shows the PS5 Digital Edition in a lying position for the first time. Additionally, these images show that the PlayStation 5 will require a stand. It was previously suspected that the PlayStation 5 can also lie down.
Does the PS5 come with a stand? Our colleagues at GamePro asked Sony if a stand is included with the console. However, Sony has not commented on this yet.
However, it is quite likely that a stand is included, because in all images, the PS5 has so far been seen with a black stand.

PS5 Digital Edition – what are the pros and cons of buying the edition?
Below, we present arguments for and against the Digital Edition. For the first time in PlayStation history, a purely digital version of a PlayStation has been introduced. At the end, we will summarize all arguments briefly.

The pros of buying the Digital Edition
Lower price than the regular edition: It is highly likely that Sony will offer the PS5 Digital Edition at a lower price than the regular edition of the PS5.
During the reveal of the PS5 design, Sony did not mention either price or release date. Nevertheless, the price will likely be decisive for many players as to which console they will choose at the end of the year:
Microsoft also followed a similar path with the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition: To make the All-Digital Edition attractive, the purely digital version of the Xbox was about 70 euros cheaper at launch than the regular Xbox One S.
Regular strong sales in digital stores: There are strong offers in the PlayStation Store at regular intervals for many games. Just earlier in June, there was a strong promotion with “Days of Play.” Discounts are often particularly worthwhile for DLCs.
Digital sales are becoming increasingly important, as they include not only games but also expansions or add-ons, known as DLCs. Many of these are now only available digitally.
According to the German games industry (via Game.de), developers generated a quarter of their revenues solely through digital sales in 2018.
PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now as strong subscriptions: With subscription services like PlayStation Plus, Sony offers its users a wide range of games – but only digitally. All games must be downloaded via the PlayStation Store. If you primarily obtain most games through subscription services, you will also be able to forgo a drive. In another piece, we explain why PlayStation Plus is particularly worthwhile in June 2020 and what the subscription offers you.
Digital Edition focuses on purely digital libraries: Simply put, the Digital Edition means: Gaming without physical media. If you want to play games or watch movies, you must completely rely on downloads with this edition. And for collectors, this means you will no longer be able to admire an extensive game collection on your shelf.
Game sharing: Sharing is also a point that speaks for the Digital Edition. It is currently possible on the PS4 to use “account sharing” to share games with other users, such as friends. However, this only works for downloaded games and not for Blu-ray disc versions. However, this is not a unique feature of the Digital Edition.
We explain how this works in a separate article:

The cons of buying the Digital Edition
Using the PS5 as a multimedia platform: Those who own many Blu-rays, movies, or PS4 games will benefit more from the regular edition in the long run.
The disadvantage is clear: Since the Digital Edition does not have a drive, you cannot start old games via Blu-ray, nor can you play movies or similar. You can only stream movies or rely on download titles. If you primarily use your console as an alternative to a Blu-ray player with gaming functions, you are likely to remain interested in a drive.
Price fixation to the PS Store: Those who opt for the digital version of the PS5 must necessarily purchase their games through the PS Store. Here, games cost on average a bit more than, for example, used ones or from various retailers.
Especially those interested in exotic or special games will find these often cheaper in retail. Various small indie gems are traditionally less available in the PS Store sale.
Another disadvantage: The store’s offers are not always the best. Retail buyers have the opportunity to snag much better deals at times.
Download speeds: With a version without a drive, you must rely on downloading. This is problematic if the internet connection is slow, and you feel like waiting for hours with each update. Because what good is it if the SSD of the PS5 is supposed to be incredibly fast, but the download takes 3 days?
No second-hand game purchases anymore: Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have the advantage over PC that trade in used console games is still possible. Because once a game is bound to Steam, Uplay, etc. on PC, it cannot be resold.
Those who opt for a purely digital edition on the PS5 will only be able to acquire their games digitally (and want to). A return or resale will no longer be possible. Lending games is also no longer possible.
