On October 4th, the first videos of practical tests on the PS5 were released. Some selected Japanese YouTubers were allowed to try the next-gen console. They mainly reported on a quiet fan and showed fast loading times.
What happened? As already mentioned earlier, some Japanese were allowed to try the next-gen console as part of the “YouTube Gaming Week Japan”.
On reddit, a total of 12 videos have been gathered that deal with the PS5 and the games on it. In particular, the launch titles Astro’s Playroom and Godfall were showcased.
Some of these YouTubers also answered exciting questions about the PS5, such as the speed of the SSD and the noise level of the console. This was a major point of criticism for the predecessor PS4.

PS5 seems to be fast and quiet
What do the reports say? On the Japanese website Dengeki Online, there is a report from the hands-on event. The author praises the speed of the console in particular.
When switching the game or dying, it is said that loading should occur within a few seconds. A restart of the game should only take about 1 minute.

The author also spoke about the noise and heat of the new console. After about 80 minutes of gameplay, the PS5 was reportedly still quiet and only slightly warm.
The Japanese website 4Gamer has also made some close-up shots of the console, of which you can find more on the site itself. They show the connections and the glossy effect around them:

New controller is supposed to provide strong haptic feedback
What about the new controller? In the report on Dengeki, the new DualSense controller was also an important topic. It is described as larger and heavier than the PS4 version, but the author was pleasantly surprised by the weight, as he had expected an even heavier version.
Additionally, he praised the haptic feedback of the controller. Depending on the situation, the resistance when using the trigger buttons on the controller should change. This was what the author liked the most. Furthermore, the vibration of the controller is said to be “different in quality than before”.
The controller also includes a microphone for voice chats or to create sounds in games, as well as a larger battery for longer playtime.
Overall, the controllers were particularly well received by many YouTubers. Although you can’t understand what they say in the videos, you can see the enthusiasm many of them had while using the controller.

What about menus and interfaces?
During the hands-on, images of the console and gameplay from some games were shown. However, what was omitted were menus and interfaces.
This led to criticism from some users on reddit. There were speculations that it might have been intentional for these to be missing and that Sony might have something to hide.
However, there were significantly more counterarguments, asserting that Sony would not make major mistakes on this issue, as they had not disappointed users in the last generations either.
We do not know why the menus and interfaces were not part of the hands-on presentations.
