The next big MMORPG from NCSoft is called Project TL, or Throne and Liberty, as we now know. It was supposed to be released in 2022, but is now postponed to next year. We at MeinMMO summarize.
TL delays its release: On August 12, NCSoft held its earnings call where the company presented its quarterly report and then allowed some investors to ask questions. Of course, this also included Throne and Liberty, the next big MMORPG from the developer and publisher.
It was originally supposed to be released in 2022 and was one of the most anticipated titles in the genre. Especially thanks to the Unreal Engine 5 graphics and the long development time, fans were already really hyped about the game.
However, the developer has now confirmed that Throne and Liberty will not be released in 2022, but in the first half of 2023. The reason given by the developer is for better strategic timing for the global market.
Additionally, they want to work with the best partner for the release in the West. According to the latest rumors, it is Amazon, but NCSoft has not confirmed this yet.

Does the game need fine-tuning? The developers avoid providing exact information during the call. However, they reveal that TL is actually quite finished. 3,000 people have successfully tested the MMORPG internally, and these tests are supposed to be continued “soon” in public.
The sign-up for these tests is supposed to happen through an “unusual” method, which NCSoft has not elaborated on yet. Whether these playtests will also be available in Europe is also not known.
They also want to adapt TL for the Western market before the global release. The game currently relies on many mechanics that are rather uncommon in the West. They want to smooth this out to ensure a successful global launch.
