The MMORPG Project TL (PC, consoles) by NCSoft has been in development for a long time. Internal testing is now set to begin at the end of August. Many readers are still looking forward to the game because it brings some unique approaches.
What is Project TL? Originally, Project TL was developed as Lineage Eternal and was ready for initial testing in 2016. However, the feedback was negative and thus a major overhaul was announced, including the switch to the Unreal Engine 4.
Since then, there has been little new information about the game, which was originally “definitely due in 2019” and later promised a beta for the end of 2019. The only small highlight was 10 new images that were released in early 2020.
What has happened now? As reported by the Korean website ZDNet, NCSoft has published a plan for internal testing of Project TL. These tests are scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 4.
This test is intended to determine whether a closed beta for the general public will be held later this year or not.
The developers are expected to comment on a release date at the earliest in 2021, as previously stated in May of this year.
Project TL focuses on action-packed battles and has money in reserve
Why is Project TL so interesting? Although the MMORPG has been in development for years and there is very little information about the game, interest among our readers at MeinMMO remains high.
One reason is likely the promised action-packed combat system in an isometric perspective. This makes the gameplay reminiscent of Diablo 3, but in a large game world and with many players. The same principle is applied by Lost Ark, which has finally found a publisher in the West with Amazon.
Furthermore, behind Project TL is the company NCSoft, which has already developed good titles with Lineage, Blade & Soul, and Aion, and has published a well-known title with Guild Wars 2. It is one of the few companies that is expected to produce the next big MMORPG. NCSoft can access considerable revenues, mainly earned through the mobile market.
What are the concerns regarding Project TL? The MMORPG has been in development for about 9 years and has undergone many changes. It is difficult to assess what Project TL actually is and how far the game has really been developed.
The low communication around the game is also concerning. Other than assurances that a beta will “soon” start, there has actually been no news since 2018.
Nevertheless, for us at MeinMMO, Project TL is among the 8 most promising MMORPGs in development.
