Destiny 2 has made extensive changes to weapons in order to ensure more balance on the way to the new DLC “Lightfall”. For this, two overpowered weapons that dominated everything in PvP will be nerfed early tomorrow. But that’s not enough. MeinMMO tells you which weapons are still far too dominant.
What adjustments are being made? In October 2022, Bungie began to revise some weapon classes in Destiny 2. For this, they introduced extensive weapon tunings in Update 6.2.5 in the middle of Season 18, aimed to balance your PvP gameplay.
Back then, Bungie also announced 2 exotic nerfs for the overpowered and dominating Exo-Linear Fusion Rifles “Arbalest” and “Lorentzantrieb”. However, it was unclear whether the update would go online at the start of Season 19 or even earlier.
On November 4th, Bungie unexpectedly announced on Twitter that they do not want to wait any longer for the nerfs. The reign of terror of the Linear Fusion Rifles will therefore be prematurely ended and brought into the game tomorrow in Hotfix 6.2.5.3. This is about 4 weeks before the start of the new Season 19.
The adjustments were long overdue. However, this will not be enough to restore balance in the Crucible. Other weapons are currently far too dominant in PvP, and players like Kujay are also calling for necessary nerfs here.
3 other exotic weapons are still too strong
The two nerfs for the exotic linear fusion rifles “Arbalest” and “Lorentzantrieb” are a step towards a balanced meta in PvP. However, it has taken too long to bring these nerfs into the game.
In addition, there are currently still 3 other exotic weapons in Destiny 2 that are far too powerful in PvP. However, Bungie has not yet considered nerfs for them, which could become a new problem.
The player Kujay mentions two Exotics on Twitter that are currently also too dominant in PvP. And his followers are also calling for a third adjustment:
- “Le Monarque”, the exotic Void bow with the poison tick
- “Toter Bote”, the lightweight exotic grenade launcher with a catalyst from the mission “Vox Obscura”
- “Keine Zeit für Erklärungen”, the exotic pulse rifle with time turret
- Additionally, pistols have also been increasingly dominating in PvP for some time, especially in Trials
Why should these weapons also be nerfed? The exotic bow “Le Monarque” has become an incredibly strong option in PvP. When combined with a hand cannon in PvP, players can easily achieve quick and nasty combo kills. Opposing guardians endure 8 times tick damage from the poison.
The Hunter exotic “Treueschwur”, which allows the bow to be held indefinitely charged, adds to the dominance in PvP. This ensures that the poison damage will always hit.
“Toter Bote” is an exotic grenade launcher in the energy slot.
The radius of the ground wave generated is so large that players in PvP can simply shoot in the approximate direction of opponents to get a kill. Each wave inflicts 130 damage and is much more consistent compared to regular wave grenade launchers.
Those who earn the catalyst in the mission “Vox Obscura” also benefit from a handy overshield and can also break through the shield of an opposing guardian while they are using their super.
In our guide, we show you how to obtain the weapon and the catalyst:
The pulse rifle “Keine Zeit für Erklärungen” is also permanently present in PvP. While the PvP community agrees that the nerf does not need to be huge, it is still necessary.
Especially since the time-to-kill of the weapon is too strong – at any range. When combined with a Warlock Rift, one can dominate on any PvP map with this weapon. Therefore, Bungie should ensure more balance with a slight increase in recoil for “Keine Zeit für Erklärungen”.
These weapon changes have also been announced: Bungie has additional adjustments planned besides the nerfs for “Arbalest” and “Lorentzantrieb” going live tomorrow.
- For Season 19, machine guns are to be adjusted to become a better “heavy weapon” option in PvP.
- The damage penalty for the exotic scout rifle “Erzählung eines Toten” is to be removed at five stacks of “Kranialstift”.
What do you think of the requested adjustments? Do you believe more nerfs are needed for greater balance? Or do you think that the real evils of PvP in Season 18 and 19 will be ability spam and one-shot abilities? Feel free to share your opinion on these nerfs and the balance in the Crucible.
