Nearly five years after the activation of raids in Pokémon GO, Niantic is now seeking your help. Together, they want to improve the raid experience for trainers. We will show you the details and how you can contribute.
What happens during the raids? The developers of Pokémon GO, Niantic, have partnered with RIT Geo Games and Media Research Lab, a research center sponsored by Niantic. They focus on developing new geo-gaming technologies, exploring the design of geo-games, and researching the users of geo-games, their experiences, and the impact of geo-games on local and global cultures.
Together with the Pokémon GO community, the team now wants to improve the raid feature. They called for participation on reddit. Trainers have already made clear requests for improvements.

How does it work? Jiangnan Xu from Niantic-RIT writes on reddit that the research team wants to interview players from Pokémon GO. They will discuss how players feel about the current raid experience and how raiding affects their gameplay in Pokémon GO. The interviews will be conducted via the Zoom program and recorded.

How can you participate? After just two days, the team had already gathered enough participants to fill the current dates. However, in the coming weeks, they plan to open more dates. Keep an eye on this thread on reddit, which will be updated accordingly.
What requests are there?

- A “Ready” button in private raid groups (not in public groups, as the long lobby time helps players without social media)
- Prepare a group invitation before entering the raid
- The free daily pass should be valid for remote raids and regular raids
- A dodge button to replace swiping to the side
- Icons for switching Pokémon instead of the pop-up menu
These five points have received a lot of support in the community. Especially the “Ready” button to start raids faster is a request that has been made for years.
