But today, on February 7, 2023, you should wait until the evening to send your packages. We will explain to you what advantage this brings.
That’s why you should wait to send gifts
Global challenge: Tomorrow, on February 8, 2023, the Valentine’s Day event starts in Pokémon GO. This will bring you lots of cool spawns, new shinies, and bonuses. However, you can further enhance these bonuses in the coming days by completing the global challenge for the event.
Usually, little letters are written or gifts are exchanged for Valentine’s Day. And you should do the same to complete the challenge in Pokémon GO. You will need to send a lot of gifts.
What goal must be achieved? A total of 100,000,000 gifts must be sent to trainer friends worldwide. So every package counts to accomplish the task.
When does the challenge start? Although the event itself starts tomorrow, the global challenge begins tonight. From 9:00 PM German time, the task is active and can be completed until February 15, 2023, at 7:00 AM. Every gift that you send from that point on will bring you closer to the goal and to cool additional bonuses.
What bonuses are there? Once you have completed the global challenge together, the following bonuses will be unlocked for you until the end of the event (via pokemongolive.com):
- triple candies when sending Pokémon
- double XL candies when sending Pokémon (for trainers from level 31)
Therefore, it’s worthwhile to wait to send your monsters until the bonus is active for you. Especially if you want to sort out legendary monsters or Pokémon that you don’t find often in the game. This way you can significantly improve your candy collection.
Tip: With the help of the tagging and filter functions in Pokémon GO, you can already pre-sort your Pokémon and send them with just a few clicks once the bonus is activated.
Things to consider when sending gifts
How do you get packages to send? In Pokémon GO, you receive the packages by spinning the photo discs at PokéStops and gyms. At the same time, you can hold a maximum of 20 gifts in your item bag. Additionally, your buddy Pokémon sometimes brings you more gifts.
How can you send gifts? To send a friend a gift, you just need to click on your friend list and select the desired friend. Now you have a gift icon in the lower left corner. Click on it, choose a postcard, and send it. If you want, you can also attach a sticker beforehand.
But be careful! Trainers can only have one gift from you at a time. As long as it hasn’t been opened, you can’t send any more gifts to that player. In this case, the package in the lower left corner is gray.
