In Pokémon GO, players have been reporting problems with evolving Eevee in recent days. Despite meeting the requirements, the evolution to Sylveon cannot be triggered. We at MeinMMO have looked into what this is about and will explain it to you.
This is the problem: On the weekend of August 14 and 15, 2021, the monthly Community Day took place in Pokémon GO. The event in August centered around the Pokémon Eevee. However, more and more trainers are reporting issues with evolving this special Pokémon.
This is the problem with evolving Eevee
After the Community Day with Eevee, reports of problems with evolving Eevee into Sylveon are increasing. User ajma93632 wrote on reddit that they had already collected 70 hearts as a buddy with their Eevee and could have evolved it into Sylveon (via reddit.com). However, due to a lack of candies, they had to wait, and now the evolution does not work anymore.
Other trainers, such as ZestycloseQuestion64, are also affected by this issue and are glad to know they are not alone (via reddit.com). It is noticeable from the reports on social media that most players earned the hearts with Eevee before or during the Community Day.
For this reason, the reddit users only have a guess as to what it could be: the Community Day. EntireCheetah7000 writes, “I think it’s a bug related to the Community Day; maybe I just need to wait until they fix it” (via reddit.com).
Why could it be related to the Community Day with Eevee?
That an error occurred due to the previously held Community Day seems plausible to other trainers as well. Unlike other Pokémon, Eevee has access to 8 evolutions.
However, these cannot all be triggered simply by pressing a button; they require different requirements depending on the evolution. For Folipurba and Glaziola, you need to set the appropriate modules in advance, or fulfill specific walking requirements for Nachtara and Psiana.
To evolve into Sylveon, players need to take Eevee as a buddy and collect 70 hearts with it. This is quite time-consuming. For this reason, the requirements for the Community Day were adjusted. During the event, Eevee only needed 7 hearts for this evolution.
Therefore, some trainers, like Rhinaz, think that Eevee hadn’t actually earned 70 hearts yet and that an evolution was only possible due to the changed requirement (via reddit.com). Thus, the trainers still have to collect the missing hearts before being able to evolve it.
Do trainers have to collect the 70 hearts again?
What could be causing the problem with Eevee? There is also another theory related to the requirements for Eevee’s evolution. Other reddit users, like mizznox, suspect that the counter was completely reset after the Community Day and that the 70 hearts need to be earned again (via reddit.com).
That the counter has been reset is also believed by pandaman467. He explains on reddit that even his walked kilometers for the evolution of Noctowl have been deleted (via reddit.com). However, whether the requirement counter for the evolution of Sylveon or other Pokémon has actually been reset remains unconfirmed officially.
